As far as I know the 3rd is a Milkweed Tussock moth cat.

Thank you ladygardener! There is a lot of wild milkweed here. This guy was in my gardens though.

I had another type of tussock moth a few months ago. Since it was ID'd I did not add it here but I think the thread was moved to this forum. ;)

Badseed, That is a good picture to the Tussock moth, you should add it to the bug file, my pictures came out blurry.

Thank you for the ID on number 2! I'm having a lot of fun learning about these little guys. He looks well represented on the BF.

I did add number 3. I hope I did it right. This is truly not my field. LOL

Badseed... looks good to me! Have to start somewhere don't ya know!

I added my first bug to the files and waiting for a correction if necessary, can't blame us for trying. LOL

LOL Well, bugs are sort of one of those things I either avoid or enjoy from afar. Sometimes curiosity gets the best of me though and I have to get a pic. ;)

I'm really glad you did because I saw one of your #3 and had no idea where to start. He got away before I could get my camera and find him again.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Moby!! Don't they look like little guinea pigs??

To be honest, we kept nudging him on to a piece of paper for a good pic but he crawled off so fast, the camera would not focus. LOL We finally just let him stay on the grass and he was not quite so quick.

Yes! Very cute / funny looking ~ like a Monarch with a fro. lol

Thanks Moby!

That certainly does look like my guy! This is the same pic but a bit larger. http://zebra.sc.edu/moth/manduca-l.html

I do live in a rural area where the crops appear to mostly be soy and corn but since I have seen many places hanging tobacco to dry, they must be growing it. LOL I wonder if he was brought in for testing or came on his own to feast on baccy. ;)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I added Mr. Manduca to the bug files. There were lots of pics of the cat and some of the moth but no pupa (that is what I have right? LOL).

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Yep.

Aside from tobacco, they like all kind of plants in the Nightshade family ~ taters, maters, daturas, petunias, etc.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hmmmm, have all of those but potatoes right here in my yard. LOL Actually, I have sweet potato vines too.
