Agastache Firebird

Cochrane, ON(Zone 2b)

I would like to save seed from this plant, but I can't find the seed. Are the birds beating me to it or is it falling out? This has been in bloom for over a month so I would think there should be some seed ready. There aren't even any non-blooming shoots to take cuttings of. I sure would appreciate any help or ideas you might have.

Agastache is normally a prolific seeder. If this is the first year in your garden, you should see all sorts of new plants coming up next year. I just potted up 5 seedlings tonight of Golden Jubilee. I'm not really sure about the seeds. At least with mine, I think the seed drops really easily, probably with all the bumble and butterfly activity.

Thanks beaker_ch. Yes this is the first year that I have this one. I have loads of Golden Jubilee seedlings from last year & will hope this one does the same. Only problem is that I have it growing in a container. Maybe I will just move it into the flower bed so the seeds will drop in the soil.

You could shake out the soil from the container onto the flower beds. The seeds that have dropped will plant themselves with the dirt.

The agastache I have is a Stealth Seeder. The seeds I have found so far are low down in the bush, and I don't see them unless I part the stems.

Thanks greenjay. I'm willing to try anything. I want to have this plant again next year as it is just gorgeous although you wouldn't know it from the photo. I don't know what happened, it looked good on my computer but once I posted it, it looked very washed out. I haven't had that happen before.

No way, it looks gorgeous still! :) I was really jealous when I saw that photo, you have a beautiful garden there. I was even stunned by the luscious color and texture of your grass.
So apparently the picture was very effective regardless!

Hi Jan. I'm so glad you like 'Firebird' & I hope you are able to find it. It has two different coloured blooms. Some are orange/red & the others are pink. I hope I am able to find this again next year & the hummer's just luv it.
