The good news is they have lots of nodes, and the bad news

Oh Bob, I hope you get them blooming before it gets too cold. You are not the only one with a sad brug story this summer. In fact many of my other type plants failed me too this summer. I sure hope we all have a great summer next year to make up for this summer. I do recall though that you did have at least one GREAT PINK earlier. I drooled all over it myself!

You know Doris, I am not even sure which that one is. I took that pic as I was on my way out to go home, it was getting dark and I was all alone there. I do not even think I stooped to check its tag. I have deleted most of the photos I didn't like from that shoot already so I am not sure. This brug was on the back side of the plot to the others.

I had a few pictures of it. I only have 1 other left, but it was too messy with blooms to pick to post. I recall the tree was covered in blooms. I bet Red is a parent.

Here is the other pic.

Kell, the photos are awesome. I am like Bob, must be a New York thing, lol. Mine are setting buds like crazy now, of course as I am threatening to pack 'em up for the dormancy. Maybe I needed to threaten them in June.
I really hope to have blooms before frost.

Kell, you said you put the cow manure on in the fall. Now I know a big part of the difference between yours and mine. Your zone allows you to leave yours in the ground year round. duh

I am in zone 5, bordering 4.

Jeanette

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Jackie!!! How are you? I miss your cheerful posts. I hope you are doing GREAT! Be sure to post pics if yours bloom before they get too cold. What a shame it stayed hot so late.

Actually Jeanette, most of my brugs at home are in pots because they get too big and too unruly in the ground. Ruthie is in the ground and she is so huge I just can't believe her in 1 season. She is taller than anything else in the border.

But.............. I put steer manure on not just for the brugs but for my other plants. I have lots of other things that vie for room and nutrients in my small space. I put it on in fall so the rain works it into the soil more. And if I am really on my game, I also will put some on in the spring to give all my plants a big kick out of the doldrums. That is also when I use Epsom salt and heavy handfuls of fertilizer under them all.

At any rate, put some down now so when you do plant in the spring, your bed will be fortified at the get go. And then add some to the top of your plantings right after planted. LOL. A doo root sandwich.

But yes, I would say our garden worlds are so very different. And mine is so much better. LOL. Zone 5 Jeanette, what were you thinking? LOL

Hiya woman! I am doing well, recovering actually from "Jackie's Day Care", lol, averaging 12-17 kids here daily all summer! My posse just can't leave me alone. :) Actually, somebody needs to be there for these kids, and it just happens to be me. I make them garden!!
School started here Wednesday, so I am just now starting to enjoy some time for me. Turned 42, feel 82 right about now, but in a few weeks I should be back to full strength.
DH made a birthday video for me , and posted it to google as a present.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3288330040956348677&q=Jackie%27s+birthday+video&hl=en
I hope the link works. I cried like a baby watching it for the first time with 17 of my little buddies watching...it was too sweet....they wanted me to be surprised, and I was. He thought of everything, what drives me...My plants, all of my kids, my neighbors, my pets and my family. The quotes my hubby chose to suit me, and the pics sure did work perfectly.
.
It's the day to day living that wears you out, lol.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh shoot. I have to download it and I dare not because I only have 11.9 GB left on my hard drive. When I download my pictures these days I must delete the same amount. It drives me nuts. I need to bring in my computer to get all my pictures transferred to my new one and I am procrastinating, my favorite activity. My DH bought me my new computer last year just before Christmas, it still is in the box.

Shoot. It sounds like your husband really did an excellent job. I wonder how much space it would take if I did download it?

Anyway, it sounds like you have a fulfilling life. 12 to 17 kids would kill me. 5 kids would kill me. 2 kids would drive me nuts. LOL. You have such a big and good heart Jackie. It is so nice your husband really appreciates you.

Premont, TX(Zone 9b)

Thanks Kell, I sometimes question what the bleep am I doing, if you know what I mean. Anyway, that's why you haven't heard from me in months, lol.
I swear I work harder now than when I worked for a check.

I asked Marco, he thinks the file is only 15 MB, so you should have plenty of room if you want to try it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

OK I will. I am dying to see it. So you do not get paid for doing this? You are a far better person than I am Jackie!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I enjoyed the birthday video. I didn't have to download.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Red!!
Marco is proud...he loves computers and everything to do with them...until they malfunction, lol.
Kell, no, no...I am no one special, just doing what anyone would do if they saw what I see. A need.
When they smell a brug bloom, or see the flower on a caladium in amazement....there is my pay.
Jax

Well shoot again, I need Marco. I hit download just under add "Add label" and it does nothing, just sits there.

You Tube worked perfectly! Funny, l had noticed that new video link on the top of Google's menu bar now I know what it is for.

So I guess your Nana is so very proud of you, Jackie. What a great video. And you may feel 82 but you look 22. You are a natural beauty! What great kids and great pets! All the components of a great life story. I thought I would die laughing about how Jackie would become a great swimmer. LOL

THANKS for letting us share your happy day with you.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Bob, great blooms. Rosamond used to be my favorite brug. It really is a pleaser. Emily Mackenzie was the great one you posted earlier! I can't wait to see it again.

LOL Doris, next trip I will check it out closer. I should send you Ruthie, she is a winner if I do not say so myself. Real thick corolla walls

Kin the camera resurrected itself once dried out. Though I may still keep my new one when it gets here. I am at least going to try it out. LOL

Oh Tony, a couple of months ago I posted right after a post you made, for you to come get a bunch in pots at where I worked and you never did. They were all tossed when I left except a few I found other homes for. They were real nice ones too. In all honesty, most of the ones above except those mentioned, do not have great shapes, just loads of blooms. Or they are similar to those already in circulation.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Elva, I just saw your 2 posts. I need to really look at that one that Doris likes. It might not be so great in person. When I took the picture I do not remember being overly impressed but I was in a big hurry to get home. My husband was hungry, waiting dinner for me and it was dark. It was good enough for me to stop though when I saw it to take its picture. So I really need to look again at it.

And thanks for the complement on my dishes. I love that pattern. I got them at Macy's and I can't find them anymore.

Here is my breakfast with a yellow tomato! I have the best Brandywines too, hard to choose between them all. I wonder how many you can eat before you can't ever eat another one the rest of your life.

yummmm, what a breakfast, although personally I would add more tomato and leave off the bacon.
Off to go fix myself something more than coffee

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate them!
I must mention that there is only one lone brug in the whole thing....hubby is getting a wee bit tired of hearing me go on and on about them, lol.

Bob, your blooms are lovely. I can't wait to see my buds open up.

Kell....what a delicious breakfast. I think I could eat my body weight in tomatoes, especially the heirloom varieties. Tried Black Krim this summer, ugly as sin, but they tasted out of this world. Meaty and smoky. Tomato power!! Yum.

PS, Kell, I am a sinker, not a swimmer, lol.
