CLOSED: Have: Amaryllis and Daylily seeds to share

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Leslie,
I suppose the sowing of these seeds would be like any other seeds. I can go ahead and pot them, grow in my sunroom, then plant outside in the spring, correct?

Deborah

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

Deborah,

I have to be honest and tell you I've never grown the amaryllis seeds. I saw some pods at my dad's this year and thought I'd try crossing it. I'll bet someone at Dave's can tell you.

We start our daylily seeds now in the shade and plant the seedlings outside in November. I don't know what the process would be for your area. You might contact Tim Bell or the Joiners and ask them as they are closer to you.

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

I have enough for five more folks to have daylily seeds.

Leslie, Leslie, Leslie, creating more addicts, are you now? (Just look at all those innocents, asking for "a few daylily seeds..." little do they know what waits in store for them...)

Thanks,
Alice

1zeus,
I was already bitten and was lucky enough to participate in Leslie's great co-op. I'm putting my "named" ones in the back yard and the noids out front to fill in an area along the front sidewalk where they can be enjoyed by the neighborhood walkers.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Leslie,

I would love some of the daylily seeds - please let me know if I can mail the sasbe.

Thanks,

Brenda

(Zone 7a)

I don't see a "closed" yet - am I too late for daylily seed?

Someone above asked about starting daylily seed farther north - here's one method: http://www.dianeseeds.com/daylilies/starting-daylily-seeds.html

In the past, I've sowed the seed in a sterile potting medium in 6-packs, soaked and drained, then put in a refrigerator for 6 weeks in a plastic bag (not tied shut, but covering). That worked, but the above looks easier for a large # of seeds.

Another gardener, after drying her seed, stores them in the frig over the winter and then starts the Hydrogen peroxide/water soak 6 weeks before last spring frost and then so forth as explained in the above link.

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

luckpup, I'm sorry. I don't have any more of the amaryllis seeds available.

Karen, I'd be delighted to send YOU some seeds! ;}

Everyone, and Janet, please watch the top box to see what your "status" is. ☺

Hi Susan,

They have not been refrigerated, so it wouldn't hurt. We don't have to do that here. I'm not sure about planting time in your area. I'm sorry.
