Help! I have my seeds collected, but I can't tell what is the seed! This Filipendula has a big fluffy flower, sort of like a giant astilbe with a bad hair day (the frizzies).
Normally I let the seed dry, and then I run it through a magical series of colanders and sieves and I'm left with seed. In this case, though, one sieve filtered out a seed that looked a little like spirea...a flat round disk with a hair or two coming off it. Then the tea stainer filtered off a seed that looks tiny -- like a foxglove. I went to the UK Seed Site and they had no pictures of any of the three -- astilbe, foxglove nor Filippendula. I have no idea what to package up!
