This one has been on my wish list ever since I started gardening. After loosing a few ebay auctions over the years I decided I wasn't going to let this one get away, in true ebayaholic fashion I ended up with three of them ( and a much lighter wallet), this one shows the most variegation and its concentrated on one side, although I think it may actually be two separate plants.
This is its temparary pot with a homemade totem, using a rotting piece of fence wrapped with coconut palm bark and stuffed with moss.
Is there any chance that variegation may intensify on plants that have little to start off with ?
Now im looking for a Monstera deliciosa 'Marmorata' the yellow variegated one
I'd be happy to swap one of the lesser variegated plants I have ,for a fair trade. If any body out there has a Marmorata.?
Monstera deliciosa 'Variegata'
Sure wish I had the marmorata, that is beautiful!
That is beautiful! Are you going to keep the plain green clipped off?
I looked at them on Ebay for a while too but I didn't cave. LOL
I'm sitting here with two extra plain green ones trying to decide whether to trade, sell or put in bigger pots. I don't need three and one is already really big and earned it's keep here. ;)
I know i need to take it off but I thought Id wait till one more leaf comes on that side just incase it has some variegation.
Makes perfect sense! I was just curious. :) My experience with these is fairly limited. I've had my Monstera for a bit and a DG friend sent me another type earlier this year. They are certainly easy plants.
Chele I got one off ebay but there isn't very much variegation in it at all. Nothing like celt has in his.
2pugs
I also have a couple of others i got on Ebay (cheap) with less variegation. I'm hoping it might do better. Ill [ost some pics during the week.

I would take a long tip cutting with at least 3 or 4 nodes just to make sure you have some
extra to cut off in case of rot. Then take 2 or 3 node intermediate cuttings from the rest of the vine. You may get some better variegation out of new plants from the center cuttings, especially the bottom one. If you were in the north, I'd wait til next spring to do this, but in Key West you may be able to propagate with no problem during the winter.
DEFINITELY cut off any tips that have more than 2 or 3 leaves reverted to all green. The
key is to keep cutting, and separating the good variegated plants from growth that is going green. Eventually you may have one or a few with great variegation. I have not seen a poorly variegated plant spontaneously turn into one with many well-variegated leaves. But cutting and propagation MAY get you a good one.
Celt, if you have a collection of Philodendrons and similar Aroids, send me your list. Maybe you have something in trade for the yellow-variegated Monstera.

I'm glad I waited to see what the new leaves would produce. Since my last post it got two new ones , both with pretty good variegation. They start off very fine and almost yellow and then firm up and deepen in color as they mature. This is fast becoming my favourite, and easy to maintain.
Russ, thanks for the info I'm going to opperate on my other two and try and increase the odds for variegation but haven't got the time at the moment but already identifired the cuts, I always live in hope of spontaneous variegation .LOL.
As for trades I have a couple of Philodendron 'hastatum' aka 'glaucophylum' or "silver sword" , still seems to be some confusion on that one if your interested otherwise just a P.gloriosum and a P.brazil.
Beautiful Celt, these go for high dollar dont they? saw a few on Ebay.
I have a question, if you have one with slight variegation, and some of the leaves are green, if you cut below that will it cause it to variegate more?
Kathy ann
I had the same thought, and was wondering about improving the variegation in some others. If you read back up a few posts you'll see a good description on what to do posted by Russ.
I'm still drooling over that plant celt! I may bite the bullet and buy one soon. I really love my plain green one and it got huge outside this summer. I will have to come up with something for it to cling to. Some of the leaves are twice the size of a dinner plate now and the stake in the pot is no longer working. LOL
I didn't read that, thanks,
beautiful plant celt

What's the story with sending plants between Canada and U.S. The one I have for trade (for a cutting) does not have as much variegation as the one i've been posting. Although according to Russ , with the right treatment, cutting etc it may improve. Here's a picture of the main plant with some variegation and I have a rooted cutting also that shows some slight variegation.
Merci
Neil
