I can't even come up with a subject line....

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

because whatever I come up with sounds silly or doesn't adequately describe my unknown pink.

She actually started blooming last night with 25 blooms. Tonight, she added another 15 to total 40. As you can see, there are still many that haven't bloomed.

Anyway, I've had a hard time deciding which pictures to post!!! I'll try not to post too many, I promise!!

Thanks for posting your wonderful pictures!!! Especially the 3rd one! Sooooo many pink skirts!!!!!

I have a frosty pink and a pink from Hawaii and now I'm more anxious than before to see blooms like that on mine.

How long from the cutting (what size?) to the flush of blooms?

Thanks so much everybody! I'm just grateful she wanted to have a flush like this!
Anyway, Louise, I have no clue. I just got my unknown pink in June, and at the time she was already about 4 feet tall. So, I guess I'm no help there. :( How long have you had to wait for blooms on your pinks?

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

have to throw in two shots from this morning. :)

Oh, what a beauty!. and so many more to bloom. Congratulations. You must be a proud mommy. You do bring your 'children' up very well.

Marie

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

She is huge for a smaller pot too! So many blooms, so much beauty! She really looks like she is the happiest plant on the block.

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Thanks so much!!
Kell, she's in a 25" pot and actually still has room to grow in it, if you can believe it! I don't think I can go with any bigger pots, because then I'd have to beg people to take cuttings every fall! LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That pot looks so much smaller. Or maybe she just dwarfs it. LOL.

Next spring, you can root prune her and then add fresh soil and repot back in same pot. That is what I do every year.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Beautiful plant, if I had that kind of success I wouldn't be so disgusted. Right now, I'm getting 1 here and 2 there but no large displays. My yard gets almost no sun and I know that keeps the blooms down.

Lola Palooza!!
What a pay off....
Simply a beautiful FLUSH of Blooms.

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Kin. Actually, I think tonight, she'll be at the "height" of her flush. She looked awesome this morning!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Awesome flushes.........no one ever gets tired of pretty pictures and you can never see too many.

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

I thought I'd show a picture of her this morning. Just about a full flush....

Absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
I want mine to look like that!

Alas, tomorrow's another day...........

Louise

p.s.- and thanks to some generous DGers, I now have 3 cuttings of Frosty Pink up and going! My day will come!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Thanks so much, BrugNanny & Louise!! The sad part is, I think the blooms are about to expire. HOPEFULLY, she'll flush again before it gets too cold, but she'll be cutting it pretty close.

I'm just amazed that no one wanted her, so she was placed in a dark corner of the nursery. Maybe it was "fate." LOL!!

Louise, it's the people on here are wonderful and never cease to amaze me! I've learned so much, given as much as I can (until I make cuttings of this brug), and have received a lot in return. It's like "ask, and you shall receive." So, maybe, if I get the courage up, I'll offer a cutting of this unknown pink for a cutting of a Maya, or Mountain Treasure, or, or... there are so many gorgeous brugs out there!!

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Ok, here's another picture. I think it's very pretty, and yes, I laid down to take it. :) I can see where people take way too many pictures of their brugs, because I'm definitely one of them! LOL

indiana_lily,
When I got my Maya, it had a side shoot that I gve to my daughter. Hers is doing much better than mine now. They seem to be trying to grow leaves from every joint. I pulled the joint growth off mine, thinking all the effort would go to the bloom end. But, I'm still waiting for blooms. I'll bet each year is another learning experience with brugs.
I bumped 6 of my cuttings and seedlings up to bigger pots this week - high hopes here for maybe winter blooms, or surely spring ones!
I already have waaaaayyyyy tooo many to over-winter but I'll do it somehow!!!! Probably stumble over them at night!

Louise

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That sure is a pretty picture taken from below the brug. Look at all those PINK pretties.

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Thanks much, Kell. I'm sure the neighbors think I'm crazy, especially if I'm lying on the ground taking pictures of flowers and plants. LOL

Louise,
Do you keep your brugs warm and cozy with light during the winter? If so, has it worked out ok? I'm going to have to keep mine in my guest room, which will soon be called the "overwintering room." :) That and put some plants in front of the windows.

I'm sorry your Maya is not cooperating with you. How long have you had it? Is your daughter's cutting of the Maya blooming?

I know I do not "need" any more brugs, but there are three that I would really, really love to have. They would be Mountain Treasure, Butterfly and Maya. If you want to trip over more brugs this winter, I'd love to do a trade with you for a cutting of your Maya. I have the unknown pink, enchanted double white, and Whiskers that I could get cuttings from. Just let me know.

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

MY MY MY, HOW BEAUTIFUL! I can't believe those blooms. Your plant is awsom. Thanks for sharing. It gives me hope.

I have one bud that is about 4" long, others are coming up behind her. I can't wait. One bloom is a thrill, Multiple blooms are amazing.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Thanks for taking us along on your adventure with this wonderful Brug.

Judy

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Actually, thank you guys for enjoying the pictures! I think my daughter is a bit tired with the unknown pink for now. :) So far, I have taken off 60 spent blooms. I'll post a picture of her this evening sans the 60 blooms.

Anyhoo, for now, here's a picture of her from Thursday night.

Are you leaving some on for seeds?? Do you want seeds? If so just take off the faded wilted skirt leaving the other parts on the plant.

Judy

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

That's what I'm doing. :) Just pulling off the dead skirts. I haven't cross-pollinated this, so unless the bees and moths have been going between unknown pink and whiskers, I doubt I'll get any pods. I guess I could do this tonight, though since Whiskers is still in bloom.... I've put unknown pink pollen on Whiskers, and I think I may have a pod on that.
I thought all these were pretty much sterile and can only make seeds if you cross it with a different kind of brug.

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Ok, it's been exactly one week since she started her amazing flush. Since then, I have pulled off 83 (eighty-three) spent blooms (just the skirts, cause ya never know). Here she is now. Still pretty amazing and still setting new blooms. Oh, spent bloom pile is in the lower left-hand corner of the picture.

And a continuation of the Beauty! Can't believe it. Keep us posted, K?

Jeffersonville, IN(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Marie. As of last night, I have pulled off 135 spent blooms. That's a huge number. Her blooms are pretty sparce now, but darned if she isn't setting new buds! Maybe she will squeeze in one more flush before it gets cold and before I have to start making cuttings. I know I'll have some cuttings after the ones that are already spoken for.

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Gorgeous!! The color is beautiful with the brick of your house too :)
