I just went out to feel the albomac, and surprisingly they are quite thick. I don't know if they were this thick earlier, or do that later, I thought they were thin looking before. Gee, one never thinks to *feel* the thickness when one should!
Spots are on others, jucunda is loaded with them. We don't know what goes into the brew, top secret. Must be some info somewhere. I really don't know how jucunda performs either, but it is making some really nice maroon spotty stems, my turn to brag!
"Green Goddess" shows her stuff.
Nice speckles!
Me too about forgetting to feel the leaves.....I was surprised I hadn't noticed before because they are so much thicker than other ones I've grown.
OK. My baby albomacs aren't terribly thick, but then they're babies, right? Thanks for checking for me. I'll keep Capt. C going as long as he seem to want to but will gladly cut the water right off if he wants to sleep.
I really need to pot up the White Giant for winter since I expect to keep it growing and believe me, it is *ready* for a bigger pot. Lots of roots out the drainage holes. Green Goddess has her toosies showing too.
I'd rather wait till spring, but 't'is the season for those two, so I might have to do it anyway.
gemini_sage~
Didn't mean to ignore your question:
That's the same bloom as before.
I was following a Google link that led back to the 'show your callas' thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/622919/ and I had forgotten what nice pix there are there. I'm going to go back over it pic-by-pic when the bleak gray of winter sets in.
There's that fabulous clump of albomaculatas of bigcityals.........http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=2476673
Baby albomacs are thinner definitely, I feel sure they weren't as thick before.
I hope you have a huge room to keep all these! I'm just denying anything until I have to put them away for winter!
I have lots of plants needing potting on now, they start to develop roots in autumn and yes spring seems better but.......if coming inside they will need extra space to develop until they slow down in winter.
My agaves I grew from seed have doubled in size in the last week, the roots are taking off, I got those potted into 3" pots but the length of the roots could have taken a long, narrow pot. The musas I potted into a larger pot recently and they have already filled to the sides, the larger ones really need ground space to grow well, they don't move much once pot bound.
I think Z jucunda is going to be a dazzler, the colour on the stems goes well up and they were only sown early June, seem to be moving well.
I was in denial too, lol. I realized I'd better not pot *anything* up till next spring especially those needing a seat near a window.
That jacunda *is* going to be wonderful when it's showing such nice coloration so young! A great-looking plant--and it blooms too!
I have a dwarf "Cavendish" banana that I got as a small plant this spring from Brent and Becky's, and now it's 6 feet to the tip of the tallest leaf--but that includes the big pot. Also have a nice super-dwarf Cavendish (Musa acuminata 'Novak') that has grown well too. And I have a dozen "gallon" pots of 'Mickey Mouse' EEs to store, and a huge upright EE and then there's............Where *will* I put them.........
We have a deep gully on the property and I've even considered putting plants down in there and covering with leaves, I kid you not. Only it gets the runnoff from the area and I'd have to put the plants on platforms or something.....
I really *must* have a greenhouse with free heating. Where is it I get one? I lost the link. ;-)))
Wish there was a greenhouse you could rent space in to grow your stuff over winter. You'd have your own key and could care for your plants yourself.......
Robert.
Robert.
You have a dozen 'Mickey Mouse' elephant ears?! Now you are boasting, lol.
I'll "store" some of those for you, hehehe.
Send a self-addressed box and I'll send it back with one.
Robert.
Bless you, bless you! Doing the happy dance!
Screeeeeeeeeeaaammmm!!!!!! Eyes popping out!!!!!!!!!
Hmmmm, alluring!
Robert, I'm starting to think you really live in the Southern hemishere!
You know I think Robert's zone is a couple higher than what he has stated!
Whatever the reason, something is happening there that we don't know about! Secret potions?
{blush}
Robert
hmmmm......
Robert, and I thought I was the only one who had love affairs with plants! LOL
(I think that is his secret, by the way!)
I can just see Robert blushing madly now!
he's simply amazing... (sigh)...
:-)
Distinguished Captains always sport whiskers!
White Giant also has a distinguished air about it, that must be your secret! They are 'distinguished'! Sturdy, upright plantizens!
Good luck with the imminent Goddesslings and White Giantlings, Goddess Chelsea and Giant Captain full steam ahead!
White Giant is wonderful! When did you get it from Plant Delights? Wondering how long it took to reach that size.
I received 'White Giant' in late June. My confirmation of sale was dated June 13.
Pretty fast-growning, n'est-ce pas?
