Should I move a 5' Tamarack tree this fall after it loses it's needles, or early in the spring before the new ones emerge? This is Wisconsin. Thanks, Legit
When to move a 5' Tamarack tree
As long as you take a good rootball, either should be OK. Do it in early fall and mulch it heavily to postpone freeze-up so the roots will establish, or else do it in early spring as soon as you can work the ground. (I'm assuming this is a cultivated tree and not one being collected out of a bog where it's rooted in sphagnum.)

This is a tree that I planted in my yard along with another one. I assume they were collected in the wild, they came to me in a trade. They have been growing for several years, but I planted them with too close together with a black pussy willow between them, and I just want to give the smaller one more space. If I get time I will do it this fall, otherwise in the spring. Thanks, Legit
