Anyone out there doing propigating by tissue culture? I'm thinking it is going to be my new winter hobby

i did a bit of it but found i could grow from seed faster cloneing has its pros and cons Regards Paul
nanrose, I have everything to get started but haven't yet. will do in the late fall. phicks, the reason i want to do TC myself is I'm hybridizing hosta. and hosta doesn't come true from seed. so you can either divide it at a very slow rate or TC it. I could send out one of my ( I hope ) choice hybrids and pay a lot of money or do it myself. hostajim1
I have done alot of Winter Sowing and had great results, but want to get some of the plants that are hybridized like new heuchera. I also want to try azaleas.

Just make sure that your tissue culture is mature and from a good plant with out any sickness Regards Paul
Those of you that have tried tc what was your biggest set back? Did you get any viable plants?
Mold
There are several mold inhibiters on the market did you use those or your own recipe??
KCK recommends using PPM for prevention of mold and bacteria. Jim
There is a serious question as to what PPM is.

I may end up using the competitor Kathon or even Bounce.
The product sold as PPM is allegdly covered by this patent:
US patent 6060457
