Need help

Arcata, CA(Zone 9b)

How do you get rid of the white common morning glory? It grows wild in my flower beds, lawn etc. I have talked to the local nursery and they don't know. Any help?
Thanks

Start pulling off the flowers and buds the minute you see them. They won't reseed then. Which poses another question, do morning glory plants have a lifespan? or can they go on for ever?

I live in trailer park and while dumping my trash at the dumpsters I saw wild moring glories growing. I said to my dh, look at the wild morning glories, he told me they can stay here, we have enough tame ones at home that took up enough of my time.!!! Have read the wild mg's can be really invasive, but they are still so pretty. am over run right now with spider wort, black eyed susans, leatris, and comfrey, not to mention the johnnie jump ups I put in in the spring. ~ have alot of digging to do ned to relocate and organize my perrenial garden for next spring.

Hello - The term 'wild Morning Glory' is a fuzzy term and there are certainly alot of wild morning glories that are not necessarilly invasive>but(!)> if what you are seeing is Calystegia sepium or Convolvulus arvensis as referenced in the PlantFiles here

This is not something that needs any encouragement...best enjoyed in the 'wild'...

These plants may produce seeds, but the main mode of propagation and spreading is from the underground rhizomes...and basically once it digs in >you have it>forever...

There is a method of eliminating it which involves soaking the above ground parts in containers of special poison>to enable the plant parts to absorb enough of the poison to transport it to the potentially massive underground root network...very involved and not practical for large areas of land...

Consider the above info and links very carefully before deciding to 'nurture' either one of the above plant species...

TTY,...
