Street Trees of Tokyo

Beautiful, BC(Zone 8b)

I found this nice little site: http://www.s-araki.com/HP-E.htm
Interesting to see how street trees are treated in different parts of the world.

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Quoting:
Ginkgo is the " Tree of Tokyo". Although fruit of ginkgo can cause skin irritation, its nut is edible and is commonly used as a ingredient of "chawan-mushi (a savory steamed egg custard with assorted ingredients)".

Talk about a drive-through for breakfast!

Ginkgo definitely is everywhere over there. They ram plants into every imaginable space and it looks remarkably good.

Hokkaido reminds me of the Upper midwest. They've cut down many of their conifers since the very first time we were there but it is still beautiful.

Really glad you posted that link.
