CLOSED: Gold colored beetle

Westerly, RI(Zone 6b)

The flash of the camera makes the edges of beetle look see through but it is all gold. Very small also thats my index finger. Found on four o'clock flowers.

I think it is indeed the Golden Tortoise Beetle (with that extra vote :-) ).

Wow...they're really pretty, aren't they?

Blytheville, AR(Zone 7a)

I saw my first one about 3 years ago on my ornamental sweet potato vine. They're hard on a potato vine. But a cool bug they are. As shiney and gold as my wedding band. Then when you mess with them, they change to an orangey color. Very interesting. I took one down to my extension agent when I first saw them and they didn't know what it was. Sheverne
