Has someone experience in propagating Trillium sessile?

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

For the first time my young Trillium veitchii has made seeds in a kind of fleshy fruit.
The seeds have a kind of white stuff firmly attached to them. It is called ants bread, as the meaning of the plant is that the ants get interested in the seeds and carry it to other locations, taking care in that way for the propagation and the spreading of the specie.
My question now is if I have to take of the ants bread of the seed before sowing it or if it does not really matter ?
Thanks!

Hi Dick,

This is indeed a wonderful site you have found! Thank you so much, it answers all my questions and more than that.

Unfortunately, one morning the seeds had completely disappeared, and I suppose the ants or other culprits are to blame for that.
I'll try to be ahead of them this year.

Dick,

I could spend hours to look at all these wonderful plants. Really interesting this nursery! So difficult to resist the temptation to order loads of them!

The trillium you fell for is marvelous but very pricy too!

Trillium are lovely little plants. I saw some growing wild in a forest in North Eastern Poland.

They are becoming more popular here and quite a few nurseries had them in woodland type displays at the large flower shows last year.

Perhaps yours will come up where the ants took them Bonitin.

That would be great, Pat!
