My cuttings came today from SandyC...i love her packing, she sent them through customs with flying colours!...she sent me cuttings of:
·Bilobata
·Variegated bella
·Curtisii
·Davidcummingii
·Pusilla
·Bhutanica
·Kentiana
·Globulosa
·Ruscifolia
·Obovata
·Parviflora (I think???)
the Parviflora's ink was smudging off on the tag so i am guessing it is that.....there are 2 others that didnt have tags so they are my unknowns!.......Maybe you will remember Sandy!.....Thank you so very much!!.....what a great organized secret trade you did and its very much appreciated....

What did you get in the Hoya Swap?
And I was sure Christinas' box would get her earlier than she predicted...it DID.. It got here today! She sent me a lovely hand crocheted plant hanger around a terrific white pot (I had drooled over it in a photo...great colors...photo to come when I get a plant in it!!) and a cutting of 'her' H. ridleyi (not the same as mine per the leaf, and H. verticillata (red). I find I am building quite a collection of H. verticillata and I love the new addition. Thanks so much, Christina...!!
Carol
I sure am looking forward to that picture. They sound lovely. Did she include the pattern for the plant hanger:) That would be great fun too.
Bea
Wow Sandy 130
That is quite the hall:) What an incredible collection. You must be so pleased.
I must tell you all I am feeling really bad as I didn't share as much as so many of you have. I had no idea folks would send that many. I mean it is great to do and if I had that many I would have too. I just started cuttings this year and only had a couple kinds to share. I am feeling like a bit of a smuck and should have waited until next year perhaps when I had more. You folks must all have huge collections or huge plants or both. I only wish for the day I can call these cuttings plants and they bloom for me. As they grow I will try and make up for it and send some more so all is not totally lost but until then I feel like hiding;( I have many many lovely hoyas to choose from thanks to a sweet lady in Hawaii:) She said it was half of her catalogue hehe but I don't think it was that many.
I guess I should have asked just how many cuttings or plants it was to be at the beginning. I will know better next time that is for sure.
Bea
SandyC was very very generous and i am very grateful that she sent such a variety of cuttings.....i only had 2 of what she sent me...and small ones at that....I think anyone is tickled pink seeing a box waiting for them at the door, even if its one cutting....its the thought that counts.....
Sandy
Carol, so glad you were right about the time! And that it arrived safely. Bea, there is no real pattern since I crochet until it fits the outer pot (plastic) I have chosen. The colourful one was destined to live in Hawaii! I have more "discrete" and smaller ones myself. Can't wait to see what Carol puts in it. :-))
Christina
I'm so excited!! I got back from a wonderful 5 day kayak trip Monday night to find a box from Carol. The cuttings were in great shape after their long journey. I don't have any of them so I am just thrilled. In the box was:
H. calycina
H. carnosa cv. Holliana
H. cv. Christine
H. lamingtoniae
H. pottsii
H. sp. HSI 037
H. sp. 1420
And some very lovely plant clips.
Thank you so much Carol, you are so kind and generous.
Sandy
Sandy...so glad you are happy... Bea - please don't feel badly. You are just beginning your collection and I know that next year you are going to be begging all of us to take some of your jungle off your hands!!!! We are all in this together and I know it sounds trite but it IS the thought and the spirit that counts!!!
HAHAHA I put the plant clips in there so that the box would make a noise NO SELF RESPECTING PLANT WOULD EVER MAKE. Heh heh heh...guess I fooled them!!!!
Edited to say that my admiration goes out to those who DO participate and DO share whatever they have to share. It really shouldn't be about 'she who goes to sleep with the most hoyas is the Queen'...and more about 'what can I do to make this fun for everyone'. Last year I got a beautiful Dream Catcher from Canada - extremely special!!!

Bad news y'all, I got the package returned to me today, (I think moisture gave it away)it was sposed to go to Canada, but the good news is I am gonna attempt this again, with a more creative decription on package! "Floral Decorations" obviously did not work - so someone in Canada WILL receive a package from me!
Kind of a funny story.....I hadn't received a package as of yesterday, but I did get a telephone call from my 'secret hoya trade pal' asking for my street address rather than the PO box I'd given.....the li'l stinker wouldn't tell me who she was, but now I know!
'Twas ceedub...Christine......and the package came this morning, already (can you believe that!) from Canada, via FedEx.
Granted, Ontario's not *too* far from Wisconsin, but I'm so impressed that it arrived in one single day!
Here's my 'loot list'!
H. lobbii
H. limoniaca
H. New Guinea Red
H. lacunosa 'Tove' (did I spell that right?)
As well as cuttings of Lepismium cruciforme, I believe!
Thank you, Christine!!
I do have L. cruciforme, here at work, but will keep these cuttings at home, with your name added to their tag...... and all of the Hoyas are *new* to my collection!
I'm very pleased, and I thank you, again!
This is such, fun!
My package went out yesterday, so hopefully my 'pal' will receive theirs within the next day or two.
I just realized that I forgot to enclose any sort of note, but I did put my name and return address on the box.
******Just wanted to add - don't forget to leave feedback for the person who sends you a package!******

Nan, I'm so happy you didn't have any of the hoyas I sent, and I just know they'll grow nicely for you. And yes, you spelled "Tove" right.
The phone call to you yesterday left me chuckling all day. It was really nice to put a "voice to a name" too!
Thank you so much for IDing the "pussy willow cactus" for me - I've never known its real name.
I agree, this has been a whole lot of fun!
Christine
Yes, I'm very happy Carol. I keep admiring the different leaves.....they're all so cool. That was a great idea to put the clips in the box to rattle. I'm glad you came up with it because I really like them. I've seen them in lots of pictures posted here but haven't been able to find any like them.
Sandy
I received my package today
Obscura
fungii
obovata
v kerrii
calycina
hoya ? will have hubby read the name eyes aren't sharp LOL
Dischidia ?
Thanks so much Kim ,blue_eyes..They are already potted up! :-)
Happy growing!
Dianne
Your welcome Dianne! The other hoya should be ischnopus and the dischidia I have labeled as "near Burma". Glad they arrived ok!
:) Kim
Sandy 130, just received my box of treasures! Thank you so much! You were spot on, I do not have any of them!
Also LOVE the added "bonuses" of the potholders and scrubbies!!
I will be mailing out the returned package on Friday - :) I will put a better description on form and make sure this time no moisture!
So, all in all in the last two weeks I have received-
9 from cowboyman
14 from Carol
Numerous cutting from Sandy and 40 Cactus/Succulents from plant co-op
Y'all think I will be busy??
Hi Becky,
I am so glad you received them and hope they were in good shape.....i always have my fingers and toes crossed when they cross the border but it all turned out well......I wasnt promoting any housework you know! but it was extra padding for those cuttings.....so glad you didnt have those...wow, what a pick then - SandyC must of know what she was doing when giving me your name to send to!....happy planting, it looks as though you will be very very busy!......
Sandy
Another treasure box made it's journey! I received a lovely package of cuttings from Sandy (nightowl2)
There was:
H. pottsii
H. calycina
H. sp. 1420
H. carnosa cv. Holliana
H. cv. Christine
H. lamingtoniae
H. sp. HSI 037
Sandy I just love the beaded macramae hanger along with the dragonflies and butterflies. It is perfect to hang the small pots in. We often go camping in your neck of the woods but now it will have a whole new meaning. Say do you suppose we could use one of those wonderful tree trunk carvings and plant some hoyas at the base just like they do in Hawaii:) For those of you who don't know Campbell River has a lovely waterfront (ocean beach) park where they display huge tree trunks that are carved by artisans into all sort of pieces of art. They change them everyyear after a competition. Many are 10 feet tall. Hey Carol if Sandy and I each had one of those do you think they would qualify for growing hoyas up a tree?
I already have them tucked in. They look wonderful and I am so pleased. What great fun this has been.
Thankyou so very much Sandy!
Bea
The person I sent to was 'new', and I've never seen her post here....I'm thinking she should have received my package by now.
I forgot (!) to enclose a note, but I did have my return address on the box....so if you're out there and you received a pkg. from Nan in Wisconsin....please post?!
TIA!
Looks like everybody is getting alot of great goodies !!!!
Maybe we can set up the swap next year far enough in advance so that we get to know everyone involved.
Carol, I really think that your idea of an advance set up is a good one. I haven't received my package yet, but I was contacted by my hoya buddy, and have had great communication with her, and know that it is on its way. I would be sad, if I didn't get to hear what my buddy thought of the cuttings I sent, or had to wonder if it was received at all.
Sara
I haven't received anything yet... :-((
But then, I don't know if it's sent or when it was sent so there's still hope I guess...
Good night!
Christina
Oh, Christina....I wish I could say it was you that I'd sent to....but it wasn't :(
My person is, apparently 'new' to the forum....and from the US.
Karen, it came, I got home from getting the kids from school, and there it was!!! The kids thought maybe the box was for them, but I knew it was for ME!! HA! Everyone is so used to presents from grandma, for everyone but mom, that it was great to see the box and know that this time it was a present for mom!!
Karen (kachinagirl) really went above and beyond.....I got a box just full of cuttings, several stems of:
H. kerrii (green)
H. lacunosa
H. noid (looks like a small leaf carnosa maybe)
H. crimson princess
H. motoskei
H. ruthie
H. pubicalyx dapple gray
All of them were new for me, except the lacunosa, and the leaves on this one are larger, and a different shade of green than mine, so I am sure that these are still different......So exciting! I think that my favorite is the ruthie, and that us only because I only have 2 other eriostemma hoyas. I have H. cv.monette, and H. ciliata. I am not sure if ciliata is an eriostemma, but the leaves are similar in shape and pubescent. All of the cuttings are very healthy, and were quite generous.
Big e-hugs to you Karen. I love the note, and picture of your kitty you enclosed! Thank you,
Sara
I'm so glad to see that the box made it to you safely Bea and that you're so pleased. As I explained, the cuttings and plant clips are all thanks to the generous nature of Carol. When I said that my plants are still too small this year, she kindly offered to send some cuttings for me to send on to the person I was to send to. I really appreciate being able to participate again this year because the secret trade is so much fun. I love reading the posts as each person receives their box. And, I absolutely love the cuttings we both received. Thank you again Carol.
Sandy
Nan,
I got your box yesterday. I am sorry that I have not been able to post before now, we had a flooding problem in the basement and have been trying to get rid of things and wash everything, and I have not had the time to post. So, here goes.
THANK YOU NAN!!!!!
I recieved this wonderful box from Nan. When I opened it, there was this overwhelming, wonderful smell. Inside, I found a blooming H. cumingiana. Beautiful.
Also, were wonderful cuttings of
H. Globulosa
H. Obovata
Rhipsalis Elliptica N010 Epiphyllum
Dischidia F440
H. Obscura
H. Picta
What a wonderful package. Thank you very much Nan.
Kelly
Thankyou Carol !
That was so sweet of you to send the cuttings to both of us. Sandy and I will have to compare notes as we grow these pretties. The cuttings were in perfect condition even tho they made two trips. You must really have a jungle growing there as some of the cuttings were hugs.
It has been great fun hearing about everyone's hoyas.
Thanks again Carol and Sandy.
Bea
Kelly....thank you for thanking me!
Gosh, so sorry to hear about your flooding......there are more important things that come up, I realize that.
Now that I see your 'moniker'....I have seen you post before, somewhere!
Sorry for being paranoid;)
I wanted to send a little something extra, but the last couple of weeks got so hectic at work and with the kids starting school (first day today!) so I figured I should just get the box on it's way!
Hope you enjoy your new hoyas and are successful rooting them....if any shouldn't root...just let me know. (Oh, sorry about my handwriting, but the Epi is NO ID, rather than NO10)
Thanks for posting, Kelly....even in the midst of your basement trouble.....and hoping that you didn't lose anything important and that those troubles are over for you!
The box finally got here this morning! The package was from MsKitty and she had chosen two hoyas that I don't have: pusilla and cv. Iris Marie. They were a bit sad after the long trip, but pusilla perked up quite well after a looooooooooong bath. 'Iris Marie' is still a bit sad, but there was white sap coming out when I made the new cut so there's hope!
Thank you so much Ann, for taking the time to find two that I didn't have!
Here's the pusilla after bathing and potting. Photo is a bit dark, but the leaves are very dark and soooo nice!
Christina
Whew! I have been sitting on pins and needles for days now. I am glad they survived!!!!
Ann
H. pusilla has a super fragrance...like lacunosa....
Ah GREAT Sara!
I'm so glad I was able to send new hoyas to you! We are all such hoya-nutz around here that I was afraid we all have the same plants by now! Ditto for me on packages from Grandma always being for the kids! One of the beautiful things about trading is getting something that is actually for YOU! I bet Dave had no idea when he started this that we would get such joy from his site!
Karen
YES...we are eachothers' grandmothers/fairy dogmothers/aunties. I love it!!!
)dogmothers is an intentional typo)
Hey Sandyc - GREAT job on the swap!!! I know it was alot of fun for me, and, from the sound of everyone's post, it was for everyone!! What a success!! Thanks for all your work - it was enjoyed and appreciated!!! Karen
Thanks everyone , it was fun.......My box from Marcy came today full of alot of things I do not have !!!! So better get planting............Thanks Marcy...............
Yeah....so glad they got there OK. I knew you'd be back so I went ahead & sent them off Thursday. Perfect timing.I was hoping there was something in there you didn't already have. I sent a bunch because you did such a great job organizing this, and it HAS been fun. Thanks again.
Marcy
I just received my box from Maria (Liljekonvalj), and I am so THRILLED!!! I received rooted cuttings of beautiful hoyas that I did not have. Thank you Maria, what a wonderful gift.
Ann
Sounds like everyone had so much fun and I had a ton of fun reading what everyone received. It was just like Christmas! I could just feel the joy. :)
Kat
Hi Ann!
Im glad they arrived in fine condition.
I have been worried about the box... it took forever.....
We swedes are famous about our generosity ;-)
Maria
