Nope, painted on wood and covered in layers upon layers of lacquer. I found it online by a lady that did special order hand painted signs, of course I don't have the link any more, but I googled "hand painted signs"at the time and probably searched a hundred sites before I found "just" what I was looking for. Not too expensive if I remember correctly, around $35.00 I think. It came with the hanging chain or on a stake!
