May be the same as someone id'd
a few days ago as pink purpurea.
Someone else sent nice pics of this one too. I had blooms like this on a small glory (cause it's still in a 4 inch pot) and
my label said tall mixed.
This bloom is growing on me, I
really like it.

I agree, it looks like a pink purpurea. What are the white flowers with it? Very nice combination. Here is my pink one.

Sweet Autumn Clematis? Looks great Janet.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Yes sweet autumn clematis.. It grows like a weed for me...this will be the last year for that one on the front porch, I have spent hours keeping it in bounds and it reseeds everywhere! I hope to find something I can put there without the seeding problems. Thanks for the help!

Hey Janet, could you please throw some of those clematis seeds my way while you're at it?

LOL! And what, prey tell, does the Scarlett O'Hara look like??? I have tried to find photos of it in the past, but they allude me. Sometimes I think there are really just half a dozen MG's and everything else is just an illusion!

Sequee - You mentioned
"Sometimes I think there are really just half a dozen MG's and everything else is just an illusion!"

That's funny(!)..>.Marketers beware(!)...they're starting to catch on...(!)...

You might be right about the illusion part, but there are probably more than a half a dozen...

The Scarlett O'Hara is actually a rich crimson (in the truest sense of the term) with a solid colored tube...the only white should be from the stamens and pistil...
I gave out some seeds of the strain that I have that has been kept true to type since the early 60's and if anyone that is growing the strain I gave out decides to post pictures>you will finally get to see what Scarlett O'Hara (the real thing) looks like...and I agree that there aren't as of yet(!),any good pictures of SOH on the web...but there will be...

I don't know if the seeds I have are "true" or not, but I will just have to plant them out next season to find out!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Crimson rambler and Texas wine look exactly alike to me....is there a difference? I am sooo confused...LOL...must be the Wine...LOL

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

It is my understanding, such as it is (!), that the Crimson Rambler is more of a fiery red, and the Texas Wine is closer to a purple red.

It is also my understanding that everything is so mingled and bastardized that it's probably better to call them my precious red, my fabulous purple, my...

Or maybe just Agnes, Myrtle, Vanessa, Gertrude...

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Mine is definetly more of a hot pink color...not a red...

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I tend to agree..lol...it really isn't a big deal..I just like it so much I was hoping to keep some seed and I don't think it has made seed yet...so I was thinking maybe I could find the name and purchase some...LOL. I actually have a package of the crimson rambler so I guess I could plant some and see if they are the same...lol

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Sequee - right on(!)...

JanetS - Txwillie-Perry decided to name one of his Ipomoea purpurea Texas Wine because it looked closer to a wine color than some other pinkish colored I.purpurea that he had growing...
