8:00pm and in bloom

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

Thought I would share this with you all. I noticed it this morning and I took the leave of the vine and shaded it so I could show my neighbor. She has been waiting for the blooms more than I have, I think....LOL Anyway I kept peeking all day and there she was so beautiful. At 6:00 pm I finally saw my neighbor and little beauty was still in full bloom. I checked again at 8:00 and little beauty finally decided to start retiring. I was amazed to keep her awake and blooming for so long.

Beck - Looks like you have some long lasting Ipomoea tricolor Heavenly Blue there...

Not really they have been closing by noon. I figured it was because it wasnt such a hot day yesterday and that I kept it shaded.

Do you think that is so Ron, or like you said maybe long lasting???? I dont know MGs.

Thanks

rwmedic - When you mentioned that the bloom was still open at 6pm,I thought that was relatively late in the day for the bloom to still be open...but if as you say that it was cooler than usual and that you purposely kept the bloom shaded>that could explain why the flower was still somewhat open at 6pm...

Ron,

I dunno, but I got another bloom today and it is still open but also in under some of the leaves.. The one on the top that I got about a week ago closed by noon. They get full sun and the only shade would be that of its on foliage.
