deep red crape myrtle

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I was in Salisbury, NC and saw some deep red crape myrtles. Can anyone tell me the name of this cultivar and where I can buy it?

Something like this http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/38054/index.html?

The one thing with the red ones is mine bloom later then the white ones and lighter colors. Looks nice but it takes a while to kick in.

You could also try "Red Rocket" http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/3012/

I can't get the hyperlinks to open. Had the same problem yesterday. Anyone else?

You may have to click on the PlantFiles tab at the top and enter the info manually.

The links work fine for me--do you have a popup blocker on?

I found the best red locally in the "dynamite" cultivar. Planted it last fall and stunning this month though still small.

I ordered Dynomite from Ecolage last year and I am very happy with it.I got it just before Katrina hit them,so it is very special to me.

yes I have a pop-up blocker on. It doesn't stop the constant pop-ups from the security system in my computer coming up (very loudly) nor does it stop the pop-ups that constantly say I need update my computer, even though it's only a month old.

The popup blocker only works on popups coming from websites, not ones coming from software that's on your computer already which is what I'm assuming the ones you're seeing are. At least in Internet Explorer, the links always open in a new window, so if you have a popup blocker on it'll stop that window from popping up. On my computer, if it blocks a link popup, all I have to do is click it a second time and then it works, not sure if yours will work like that or not.

thanks. I'll try clicking on the attachments and link twice. The computer is knew and I'm going to have to call Dell about a few questions, so I am making a list, lol.

Took a pictuire of mine today. Blooms late and it doesn't grow very fast.

Oh... doesn't really look red in the picture. It is a very deep red, must have been the sun or something.

Did you guys know you can root cutting from the red crape myrtles??? A nursery man told me that. I cant find any of the red here. Fran

yes, I know. But when one is getting a little long in the tooth, one doesn't want to consider waiting 5 years for blooms, lol.
