Dear 2pugdogs
Look at that picture again I don't think they are the same. My bush has alot of pink in the marbleing on the leaves. The leaves are also more rounder and soft. I have that hibicus that you sent a picture of also.
The bed of calidiums, I've beening working on them for about 2 years and I guess I've put maybe 8 flats.

You know you are right, they are different. But when I first looked at it I thought they were the same.
That is so amazing.

That is one Victoria waterlily. My plant covers about a 1/4 of my pond. The smallest leaves were when I got it 5/16/06 and it had 3 that were 12" across. It was in a 6" pot and as soon as I put it in the large tub the leaves tripled in size.
I love it, it's very inspiring!
Wow it sure is nice , and if I kept one it in a 8-10" pot I think it would work.
Thanks Jeri, beautiful job!
Wow!! Your yard is gorgeous Jeri. You have done a fabulous job of designing and landscaping it. I really like your waterfall and ponds and I love our Victoria Waterlily. Thank you for sharing your pictures.
Sandy
MY OH MY, you hit a home run.

Very lovely for sure, Jeri.
Now about that eucalyptus. I just put one in and it's about a foot tall. What really is the growth rate on these? Yours is lovely.

Like it said I got mine in a 2" plug and kept it in a pot for about 5 years then put them in the ground, but they are in a 2' stone flower bed which restricts the root growth and I wack off about 1/2 of the plant twice a year to maintain this size. I've seen them in California and they were huge.
They are easy to grow I haven't ever had any problem with bugs or anything and they maintain their leaves all winter long. The bark peels which I think is interesting and after the spring I've notice they shed leaves but then new ones come back quickly.
The smell is heavenly.
Thanks, Jeri....I can't wait.
absolutely beautiful. looks so natural.
Jeri..
GREAT LOOK you have there... and many of my favorite plants... [ SNOWBUSH is one I'm getting next.. I saw it about here... and loved it..]
and the Japaneese look to some it.. Elegant... tastefully planted... with more restraint than I possess... Lets have the how to book .. Thanks..

Thanks so much for your comments.
Do you know anything about the snowbush? I bought mine at a plant sale at LSU and all I know is to treat it like a hibicus. There is no how to book. I put ten beds in and then each month I would go buy what was blooming and arrange it in amongs the other plants for the months before. I have something blooming every month but December. But here we don't have our first frost until November.
Jeri
jeri11, awesome pictures of your wonderful garden. Thanks for shareing.
I think this is your snowbush....we call it snow-on-the-mountain and it grows everywhere here.

Thanks Pati
I went to the hyperlink and that's my bush. Thanks again. I'm new to Dave's Garden & I seem to have troble getting those plant files to work for me.
Jeri
I had trouble too because I don't know the "real" name for anything! Here's how I learned to use it:
1. Open Plantfiles
2. Click on "Click here to search for plants"
3. On the screen that opens up, look at the paragraph above the "Search Query" and find the sentence that says "Try a generalized search, which will look within all the name fields for the word(s) you specify."
4. Click on the words "generalized search" and TA-DAH!, it opens a page that allowes you to use "regular names" for plants.
Hope this helps.

PS Welcome to DG!!
Bad News Shellabella.
I collected two of the pods yesterday and either the seeds had already fallen out are they didn't make seed. I'm so disappointed.
Richard, the man I originally got the waterlily from said the seeds wouldn't be a pure strain of the waterlily but it would have been worth the try.
If any sprout in my pond I'll let you know.
Jeri
That's ok Jeri, Nature is what it is and maybe next year you will get some seeds, but some things will not grow true from seed as the man said. Would be interesting to see what they look like if you do get sprouts! Good luck!
Michelle:)
I enjoyed my tour, thank you so much for taking the time to post the pictures and answer questions.
Judy
Hi Judy,
I was just touring your place and love the porches. Did that work for you? I don't have a greenhouse and drag everything inside so as there is hardly room for the people. What size heater did you use? I have a covered patio by the guest house that if I could find someone to do that it might work.
Thanks for the idea.

Judy
Thank you for the tour! Your place is just beautiful
At first I thought your snowbush was a new lorepetalum that I hadn't seen but I'm pretty sure it's Breynia disticha. If so, its a tropical grown in Hawaii, India, etc. It's very competitive in Hawaii (translated invasive?) but I would think it would be a great specimen plant for you. -plantnutga

That's it, it is not hardy where I live so I guess I'll take cuttings. We'll see what it does.
Thanks
Jeri
I had a great time touring your garden and pond with waterfall. Looks like you really love it.
Love to have some jasmine tea in the tea house some time! :)

That would be nice. I only showed a few pictures. My yard is quiet large. I have over 2000 sq ft of flower beds layed out in ten beds. I have 5 flag stone walkways between the beds a large sand box with a swing set for the grandchildren. The above ground pool is surrounded with giant banana plants ( that didn't do their best this year) and 25' windmill palms. I have 3 ten ft gardina bushes and then the bed with the weeping willow and roses with caladiums facing the waterfall. I need to take more pictures.
Jeri
Oh yes! More pics welcomed! You've done an amazing job :)
Sounds like a bit of heaven! would love to see more pictures too.

Here is a link to some of the rest of the yard.
