No, that's not it's real name, I made it up when asked what it was.
I have no idea what it really is. It's resting on (sucking the life from?) my Corkscrew vine (Vigna caracalla).

CLOSED: Green-backed Liver Snipe
It is definitely a Weevil from the large beetle family Curculionidae, but there are so many of them, that I cannot so far tell you which,

I don't think all weevils are bad, but there are certainly some nasties amongst them!

ooh, nicely nicely done. I'm sure that's him -- and to anyone wondering about his black bits, while looking up "weevil" stuff, I discovered that they often lose their colorful "scales" and their black shows through.
I thought he looked a bit corroded. ;)
