Looking for an evergreen shrub with orange or yellow blooms. Tops out at 4-5 feet high and wide.I am helping a friend and she has sooo many rhody's in her yard I am hoping for something else. We are going to plant a Gibraltar azalea and something to complement that? Maybe 3 or 5 of them is our plan.
evergreen shrub w/orange blooms?
You don't mention how much sun the area gets, but here are a few yellow/orange bloomers that come to mind:
--Mahonia
--Abutilon
--Cassia/Senna (there are many yellow flowered varieties, and I think some of them would stay in the size range you want)
--Acacia (again, many yellow flowered varieties but only some are going to be the right size)
--Tecoma stans (I think this one is only good to zone 9, but if your friend has a warmer microclimate it may do OK)
--Cestrum aurantiacum (this one could get a bit bigger than you want, but I think if you prune it you can keep it keep it smaller without too much trouble)
--Buddleia x weyeriana (again, may need to prune to keep it the right size)
--Lantana (some of the L. camara cultivars can get to be rather shrublike after a while, probably ~3-4 feet)
thanks ecrane3. I will research your list. The site get AM sun (til about 1 pm)
