Hi -- am a newcomer to this forum and am enjoying catching up with it very much. I'm wondering if anyone else has tried to place an order for fall bulbs with The Lily Garden. I faxed one in over a month ago, emailed twice to ensure they'd gotten it and never got a reply so I called and left a message, which hasn't been returned yet either. Maybe they're too busy in the fields this time of year? Has anyone else had this experience? I'm a little embarassed to be so worried about it, but I'll cry if I don't get those bulbs, and that'd really be embarrassing. Thanks...
ordering from The Lily Garden
It seems to me the catalogue you are looking at is not valid now. The polite thing for them to do is to at least let you know that. Their next catalogue should be for Fall 2006 and Spring 2007. It should be coming out soon. As far as I know it's just a 2 person operation (until harvest).
The web site is the last catalogue-- Fall 2005-Spring 2006...

Don't be too hard on them -- Ed McRae recently had a stroke and I know they're all worried about him. We haven't heard anything, which might mean not-so-good news.
Wicker -- don't worry about your order-- they *will* get to you, I'm sure. They pull bulbs in OCTOBER from the field and will let you know way before that if you ordered something they're not offering this year. Knowing Judith, she'll pull bulbs from her front yard to fill your order if she isn't offering it.
The Lily Garden is an excellent source and they have such beautiful flowers. I especially like how she tried to mimic the look of hard-to-grow speices with hybrids of great vigor.

I heard about Eddie's stroke and thought that perhaps the family is just busy. I certainly hope that no news is good news rather than bad news. And Judith is absolutely the most generous person in all lilydom (is that a word?? It is now!). All those scale bulblets and test tube babies she gave away on Lily Day was awesome!
thanks so much for the replies. Sorry to hear they've had such troubles. The online catalog is wonderful -- and they do seem wonderful too.

Pard -- Sure it's a word, but ya gotta capitalize it -- Lilydom LOL!
Yes the tubes and scales were awesome -- How is your parvum halliday doing? I noticed my handwriting on your tube on a pic you send in a couple days ago! That was weird! I was also wondering if the bud culture from 'Black Knight' ever came to pass - I was salivating (but trying not to show it!)
Has anybody gotten the new Lily Garden catalog? That's what I am waiting for. She has two new 1cs -- one is a butterscotch color and one is a bright coral and they are wonderful -- the flower *and* the plant! Unfortunately, I can't help you on the names as they were still unnamed when I saw them.
Suzy
Hi Suzy and welcome to Dave's Garden. You will find more than a few lilyholics on this forum. I was pretty sure when you posted that you were the one that handed me those tubes:-) It must have seemed like deja vu to join Dave's and almost immediately see your handwriting in one of the photos! The younguns are doing fine with little leaves up to the top now. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with them and when. I'm afraid if I take them out I will kill them so for now I am leaving them be. I keep them at work where they get a huge amount of light from windows and ceiling fluorescents, but not the excess heat they would get if I had them under regular grow lights at home.
I don't know about Black Knight, the 2 I have are Tinkerbell and parvum halliday. Lo and behold I found the new catalog in my mailbox today. Front cover is Silver Chimes, a white 1c and the back cover has Gloriana, the butterscotch one. A couple more new ones inside also. Beguiling might be the coral one you are thinking of. Another called King David, an asiatic type and a huge looking OT (Bravura) that looks like Silk Road but the red goes almost to the edge of the petals. There is plenty to drool over in this new catalog!
I just heard today that Fogbelt website is down because the guy who owns it has cancer.
Geez, that's a bummer. I had come across their site just today and wondered what was wrong.
I see the new Lily Garden catalog is now online...
Have I ever been waiting for that website update! Oh what lovely, lovely lilies they have there! Judith is a lily goddess!
