Both of theses moths were found in open fields away from any houses or other structures
Pink and white body, deep yellow antenna and green eyes...what a combo!
CLOSED: Two Moths That Need IDs
The first one, looks similar to the Rosy Maple Moth,Dryocampa rubicunda .. but, I don't come near to qualifying for any resident guru either. (lol)
This site > http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/Files/Live/Living39.5F.shtml .. has lent itself mitey handy.
Stacy .. you jes may find this site > http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/map?sf=CommonName&ds=10&_dcs=1 .. quite useful, if you haven't already ..

It sure could be the Rosy Maple Moth. I didn't see any others that were even close. I use the second site a lot but have never seen the first one. Great site, thanks!
Now what about the other one? LOL
Stacey, I have been trying to find your two moths, without much success. I am dubious about the Rosy Maple Moth. It has a lot in common with your first one, but it doesn't somehow look quite right.
I have come up with a possible for the second one, but again I am far from sure. I found the Half-Yellow (Tarachidia semiflava) in the Noctuidae http://bugguide.net/node/view/48299
http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/Files/Live/Living48.1F.shtml
which is certainly very close.
Another possible for the first moth is the Schinia Moth - Schinia sanguinea http://bugguide.net/node/view/35108/bgimage but I don't have any more confidence in this than in the Rosy Maple Moth
I think I have finally found your pretty little rose-coloured moth. It seems a very close match to the Clouded Crimson Schinia gaurae in the Noctuidae.
http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species?l=4295
although the map does not show it reaching Florida
That one does look good as far as the markings but the range is really far off. Is it possible there's just no documentation? Do you suppose that website could verify the moth? They do offer a 'contact us' link...
I know you've put a lot of time into my 'bugs' and I appreciate it...I know you do this for a lot of us here. Do you sleep? LOL
I just tried a search for:
"Schinia gaurae" Florida
and after weeding out all the 'Schinia florida' sites, found this
http://www.entomology.ualberta.ca/searching_species_details.php?c=8&rnd=05040212&s=282
which reports the range as including Florida
Wow! It all fits...dry grassland with Guara. Adults are on the wing late June to mid August and just now the Guara is fading. I'd been able to find one perfect picture match from Kansas but the species was not identified.
So, we're ready to call that one solved??
Yes, one solved at least
Hooray!!
