wowzers! how long have you had both plants? Are they in full sun? Mine get afternoon sun and do not look nearly as robust. It's either lack of sun or insufficient water.

Yours are outstanding

OH! I "Neeeed" some of those.... going to PF's... how tall is the big one? Those are both outstanding, JM

Both are grown in large pots. The lesser pineapples are 28" tall, there's several bulbs in that pot (6 if my memory serves me right). The flower scapes avg. 1.25" wide. The greater is 48" tall with the single scape 4" wide. The former bulbs I've grown for several years. I believe I started with 3; when I depotted to repot this spring had about 15 bulbs which were subsequently divided into 2 pots (couple given away). One pot had a large pot of gloriosa lilies fall off of a stand and land on them while the other pot is half of the subject of this theme. The Eucomis Pole-Evansii is a single bulb I've grown two summers, no bloom 1st year but what a bloom this year.
Both pots are situated to receive hefty doses of sun. The greater receives most of it's energy in the afternoon, the former in the morning. I do water copiously once they're up and going.
Pic is last year's lesser Eucomis.

mine are doing great...they are just laying on the ground. :( I planted them WAY to shallow. They were big bulbs...I was in a hurry. Everyday i look at them and cant wait till i can dig them up and start over for next year. That big one you show...well that is a must have, I am going to look for it for sure.. Even tho mine wont stand up...i love them....those little pineapple flowers make me happy everytime i see them.

Top shot of Pole-Evansii.
I got mine from Brent & Becky's Bulbs two years ago. A bit pricy but I think worth it.
