Name That Tree

I should know what this is but I can't. Anyone have an idea?

Has this one been whacked on a bit? The dangling clusters look a lot like Pterocarya (one of the wingnuts), but the stems don't seem to have the grow extensions that I'd expect for that plant. Maybe it's just the angle of the photo.

Your pictures seem to attract a certain handsome vintage truck...

I think that blue truck is the super-model of the forum. She adorns every scene, luring in all the guys!

Perhaps it's Pterocarya fraxinifolia, which doesn't have the rachis wings that the hardier P. stenoptera does. We can grow P. s. but other species are not fully hardy here. P. f. is very popular in Europe and probably does fine out there in BC.

Ah, you guys got it. Pterocarya fraxinifolia - I just couldn't put my finger on the genus and you got the species too. I checked the book, "Trees of Vancouver" and it mentions this very location. Thanks!

"Old Blue" was in a parade on the weekend and she overheated so I'm all concerned I wrecked something but she reliably got me around past few days for a ton of plant photos and today she's moving bamboo. I'm sure she's honoured to be called a "super-model" of the forum. Thanks!

Hey, man, can I borrow your truck?

Sure...as long as you fly me and my truck out there and back. I'm drivin' though. So here's a better pic of that Pterocarya fraxinifolia - looks kinda tropically. Should I include the tree & truck pic in PF?
