Colour Combo

Beautiful, BC(Zone 8b)

I came across this nice colour combo in the park today and thought I'd share it. Euphorbia characias, Berberis thunbergii Atropurpurea and Lonicera nitida 'Honey something'.

Brought to you "in living color!" Warning!!! People with a history of undiagnosed and untreated fits should not view the above photo. Wow! Annuals have got nothing on that use of color!

For other berberis with unbelievably saturated color, please note B. thunbergii "Aurea", and B. x ottowensis "Superba." So much color it almost hurts.

Quoting:
So much color it almost hurts.

"Almost"?

Why do Canadiens/Canadians stick in extra letters? Euphorbia has no 'B' and is frequently associated with Salvia divinorum and Psilocybe semilanceata.
(Just a little humor/humour.)

Now I am in a state of Euphorbia. I looked it up they are woodies/herbs/cacti!!! Usually they have leaves. The only species that I previously knew was a woody with leaves. That is really intriguing. How did they ever define the genus?

Well, Euphorbia are trees, shrubs, cacti-like, perennials, annuals, etc, etc. Your Christmas Poinsettia is Euphorbia pulcherima. They defined the genus by the flower, typicall very small, green and identical to the very centre of the Poinsettia.
