CLOSED: Can anyone ID this weird crawling thingy?

Pittsboro, NC(Zone 7a)

I found this on a Carolina allspice bush in my front yard. It was sort of furry looking, and at first I thought it was just an egg case or something similar. So I touched it - and it started crawling! I tried to see if there was an insect UNDER it, perhaps carrying it, but all I saw were itty bitty legs. Does anyone know what this is?

You probably have a lacewing larva. They stick detritus to their body with their poop for an instant house and camoflauge.

Beneficial, BTW. The larval stage of the brown lacewing, it is called "trash carrier" for obvious reasons.
