I spotted this little guy in the yard this afternoon. It is about an inch long. Does anyone know what it is?

That was my first thought, but it always sat with it's wings straight out to the sides. I was under the impression that damsel flies folded their wings when sitting.

Hubby said your bug is a dragonfly and specifically that it is probably a male Blue Dasher.

Boy, if the head of that bug was on the left instead of the right, that'd be some bug! As it is, I go with the dragonfly ID. Damselflies do not have heads that large and they do sit with wings folded, generally.
