Just had to share

This lily just started blooming in the past few days. I am completely in awe! It is named Soprano and I measured the bloom at between 9 and ten inches without flattening the petals. (sorry about the hail damage)

Was hoping you would show it here. Spectacular.

Good substance? I'll have to see who the parents are. Hope you saved pollen.

Actually this is a Dutch hybrid. And the bulb was imported. It is an OT from Vletter Den Haan. I know nothing about hybridizing lilies but instinct tells me that OT's would be hard to cross due to the way they are created.

I just had an email from the person who sent me the bulb. He said that the producer has discontinued the production of this plant! Too outfacing! Imagine that!

Well maybe you ought to scale that baby and you'll have yourself a nice little niche!

Too Outfacing? How can that be? Some people have no taste!

The Dutch primarily grow for the cut flower trade. Upfacing lilies are best for that. Outfacing make good garden lilies, though. They look you right in the face!

Mainiac, that is just beautiful!

So I guess there's nowhere to buy this lily?

What a shame, pulling such a nice outfacing LARGE lily from production! Bummer! Thanks for sharing...

I don't think that it will ever be commercially available in the US but I could be wrong. You never know what the companies will import and offer. But the producer of this lily has said they will discontinue propagation of this variety. I hope to scale it this fall.

How beautiful!!! I agree with the other posters that you should scale/reproduce it if for not other reason that to trade with all of us.
