One more, than I have to quit as I am making spegettie sauce for my youngest son and he will be returning the favor by helping me put on wood chips in a few weeks. I should say flower beds.

I love them all also. I like your barter, Maxine-- food for manual labor;-)

Sultry Sumatra opened for me today. Early tomorrow she is going to get a little, ahem, conjugal visit from Arabian Red (and I didn't warn her, either!).

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

oooh, sex, lies and lilies.... I see a pbs documentary in this! lol

Siberia is one of my all time favorite Oriental lilies. :) It's still going strong in my gardens. :)

Wow, those are all stunning. And people wonder why we never have enough. Before we moved here and I had all this unplanted area, DH thought tulips were the best flowers. Boy, did I show him! Now, he asks me why we don't have those pretty cut flowers in the house anymore like we did last month. I will have LOTS more next year.

Glad you started this thread, Maxine ~ I'd thought about doing so but didn't get around to it.

I have a few pics that didn't get posted and some late-planted bloomers. Here's Hartford

This pale color is what happens when Harbor Star gets too little direct sun. A very neat bloom as it looks like a squigly star fish.

Oooh all very pretty Moby! I purchased Henry's Surprise just to have a nice late Asiatic and wouldn't you know every dang bud on it blasted this year:-(

I noticed it has weird really short anthers...

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Doesn't it?? And a long, long pistil.

Here is the trusty Tiger lily

Moby & Maxine--what tempting orientals you both are growing!

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hi ya! I feel an addiction coming on. First the Lily Show and now your beautiful photos. There will definitely be some lilies in my garden next year......in addition to the ONE variety I have now. Oh wait.....I have some tiger lilies that came up from under the front of the deck. That's TWO varieties!

Marie, come to the dark side!! (Bring Kelly with you) Go to the Lilly Nook and check out their lily library. You think you're you want some now, just wait. :)

Diann

Ps. you have some nice lilys there for starters! :)

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Diann.....the dark side.....is pulling me in........No thanks to you and the lily people.

I think that I must have bought the pinkish lily bulbs in 1990, and they've been pretty much on their own ever since. The tiger lilies just came up under the deck (which was already here when we bought the place in 1987). They lean out through the side slats to get at the sun. I can't get to them, so they have been on their own as well. My addiction will not become severe as I have very little sun at my house. I doubt that the pinkish ones get even 4 hours of sun a day, and the tigers get only morning sun. I don't have much sun anywhere on the property. That said, I have learned that martagons love shade.....I'm going to need some of those!

Looks like your Tigers are doubles and I love your pink lilies. Very sweet.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

I've never seen a db. tiger lily. Thought my eyes were fooling me!!

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Moby-Henry's Surprise is just perfect! What a neat color. Does it have any fragrance?
Maxine-What a perfect name for this thread & I loved Sumatra. It looks so much better in person too, don't you think? Mine opened up last week, then got beaten in a storm and actually snapped at the base. Looks like I may be back to inquire for more at B&D Lilies, because I'm thinking this one isn't going to return, based on the injury.
A special thank you to all of you lily lovers out there for sharing your gardens. Your pictures are inspiring and beautiful.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I don't recall that Henry's Surprise had any fragrance. It is a rather funky color but I like it. :)

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Oh boy! I've got a special tiger lily! And to think that I've been taking it for granted all these years.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Found some more late lilies.

Longiforium. purchased in a collection of them. Would some one please advise me if these have names or are they just known as "Longiforium"?

Maxine.....your lilies continue to be beautiful. I can't believe that you're still getting blooms. You have had a nice long season from beginning to end.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Maxine, love your Little Eve and it doesn't look so little ~ how tall is it?
