Thanks so much PudgyMudpies your photo has showed me exactly what I need to look for. People are so helpful on this site. :-)

How's everyone's Vigna's (fragrant corkscrew vine) doing?
ok investigating my vine yesterday, I do have little buds!
ps - great photo too Donna!
Thank you all very much for the great, and very helpful advice (and photo!). Know that it is appreciated.

Must be the season. Several of mine are budding or blooming now. Yea!
YIPPIEEEE!!! How exciting for you! Congratuations. :~D They look wonderful!
Remember how long I've been waiting. They are definitely worth it.
I agree, it is WELL worth the wait. I think it's the only plant I feel that way about. LOL Have you gotten to smell it yet? I usually have to wait until night or early morning to get much smell here.
Not yet but it's pretty high up. I don't know how strong the smell is.
Well Done Jan!
Hopefully mine will be blooming soon ! I check them a couple of times a day lol!
A watched pot never boils. LOL
Congrats on the flowers Budgie. They look great.
Joelle my buds are right at the stage yours are. Don't worry I don't watch mine and they still don't do anything. I walk by and water and let it go. Watering everything everyday wears me out most days. Every year I swear I will be cutting back on the containers but there is always just as many or more.

Mine is not doing good at all, never has had flowers yet and the vine is so fragile, it is outside on the patio
Well Jan, I know about those watched pots! I've been guilty of pot watching all my life! Buds getting bigger, but no blooms yet.... guess I'll have to put on a blindfold next time I go out there!
So sorry kareoke..... Do you fertilize it? I haven't fertilized mine with store bought fertilizer...only use diluted alfalfa tea made with the addition of worm castings and hydrolized fish emulsion every couple of weeks. I use rain water to dilute it if I have it.... may have to put a couple of barrels at Jan's house. She gets all the rain around here!LOL
I do think the heat does have something to do with this vine thriving....It's been so hot!
LOL Michelle,
All I have to do is threaten to turn on the reclaimed water and boom, here come the clouds. I did use MG Bloom Booster once a couple weeks ago and they started budding a few days later but it may have been coincidence.
Can't hurt for you to try it.
I have used the MG bloom buster but still nothing, I had it in my plant room up to two months ago then decided to move it outside
kareoke
It could be that they need the heat to really thrive like mine have. We are in the 90's every day for a couple of months now and humid.
On an old thread about these I noticed people were getting blooms in September. So have patience and keep them plenty warm and don't over water, I hear they don't like too much "love".
I think the heat has really made a difference this year. I did spray with Messenger a couple of days ago so we'll see if that helps at all. I've got a great vine (green and lush) on the fence, but I've had very few blooms. If it will cool a little I think I'll have them.

I have one that a friend gave me in the spring that was struggling for awhile. They do seem a bit picky......
The vine seems to be doing ok now and I see buds but they are just taking their time doing anything.
Robert.
Nah Joseph,
The cats only like my vigna. They ran out of pipevine and migrated over to my vigna where out of desperation, they consumed the leaves on the middle portion before going on to adulthood. It has been blooming regardless so they apparently didn't do enough damage.
Jan...
oh Joseph, what a beauty! I am so glad you are getting to smell what I was raving about. LOL
YAY!!! so Joseph are you in heaven??? isn't the scent just delicious!!!!
LOL, we are so addicted, aren't we??? I was standing next to mine which is up against the fence the other evening trying to avoid the ants but get a good whiff of the flowers when my neighbor spoke to me from about 5 inches from my head, LOL, he was standing on HIS side smelling them too! LOLOL I told him he about gave me a heart attack, but shoot, how can you be mad at anyone who is smart enough to stand there sniffing corkscrew flowers! LOL
Donna, did you ever get any open flowers on your mystery vine? I'm so curious to know what that is.
Way to go, Joseph! How long did it take you from seeds to get blooms?
PudgyMudpies thanks for asking. I did have an allium growing up from behind the pot. Here is the latest picture and it definitely is a Corkscrew vine. I just won't be able to smell the blooms probably before I have to cut it down to bring into the basement.
:) Donna
Oh Donna, that is too bad! There is not way to bring it in without cutting it back? OhioBreezy grows hers in a pot on a trellis and hauls it inside while it is still blooming, is that something you could try next year?
I wish. I have so many plants especially vines that I'm bringing in this year. Wow, Joseph! That's pretty good from seeds....only 2 years.
:) Donna
