WOW
Here is another one Kell
wow is right Sandy. Love that bright double yellow
WOW Sandy, that one is so bright and cheerful. You really have a lot of hibiscus don't you. How do they do for you over winter?
Most I put under a house made of cow panels and cover with a tarp. But some are in the ground and the do great. They can freeze to the ground and come back. Except the Tropicals. I have a few more just n0 good pictures yet. one is pink with a dark canter and I can't remember the others till they bloom.
We are a bit colder than Sandy and my tropicals were outside, in containers, last winter and I discovered that an important key is keeping them on the dry side. Some cold appears to be OK as long as they are not damp. Mine were on the deck in a protected spot under an eave so they did not get rained on and they got little supplimental water; just enough to keep them from drying out. It was the leeward side of the house so they were also protected from our never ending winter winds. The original plans were to cover them if frost was expected but we had no frost. That may not be the situation this coming winter so the tarps will stay nearby. My garage and attic are filled with boxes of old sheets and bedspreads for those nasty cold nights and my DH is really a dear for putting up with the mess.
This is Candy Wind in early April.
Kell, the spot I had my plants in does not get much light and our air is pretty damp; they did not start blooming until I moved them back into the sun and started feeding the hungry little buggers. I think you could do this.
I had brought some inside my hoophouse and they fared worse than the ones I left out. I may have had some rotting fungus go around though. Maybe I will luck out this year. here we were so wet last year, though winter is always our rainy season. Cold and wet.
Kell do you have a patio or something to sit them under? The lighter double yellow I just throw a sheet over. Even if you set them under the protection of some trees. I don't always fair well. I don't understand either. I loose two plumeria eery winter. But my heart is helpless when Lowes gets in the 4.49 dollars a gallon in the spring. That is what this one was. Maybe messenger and having them really strong before winter is the answer. We will see.
Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
Kell you have to keep them pretty dry in winter
My tiny brug seedlings and begonias get the porch. LOL.
You can put your plumies in the closet, Sandy. They never survive the winter here outside. Last year they got my dining room and they still went dormant but lived LOL.
Hard to divvy up all my space fairly. LOL!
This year I will keep them bone dry Donna!
that will do the trick Kell and keep all leaf debris out of the pots too. Helps keep out the fungus knats
