How in the world do you get them to bloom so profusely? I have tried everything to get mine to bloom and they only put out a few. One of my plants is sheding leaves and drying up . is that lack of water or too much??Fran

Jeanne, those are gorgeous!

Mine haven't bloomed yet, maybe later this year :)

How have you been feeding them?

Jeanne, those are awesome pics! Congrats on your blooms. Are those big 5" flowers? They look a lot like the cultivar 'Playful,' which is sold by C-Stars Nursery, a wholesale nursery here in Southern California. Mine is blooming now too. The hotter it is, the darker the pink. Here is mine:

Mine look pretty light compared to yours, but yours has the same petal shape, and it looks to be the same size.

Fran, tell us what fertilizer regimen you have your plumies on. There is a bunch of information on fertilizers over on the sticky FAQ thread. If you are trying to get flowers, you should be fertilizing weekly with a bloom booster formula. I would check the rootball on the one that is shriveling and drying up. It sounds like it is not getting enough water. I would pull it out of the container and check the root ball.

I just water and feed them. I have several cutting in the pots that I have not put in the gound yet. yesterday I watered and today the leaves have about half fell off.. I have two that have been in a big three gal pot and they are doing great and blooming over and over but the rest arent doing anything but sheding leaves. Some are big and have great leaves just sitting there even tho I put the high middle no fertilizer one them...Fran

I am envious too, mine are all very healthy looking but no inflos yet. A neighbor who has her plant in the full shade and hasn't fertilized it with high Phospherous has flowers and I am in a funk over that too :-(((((

I am going to look into that Nelson's fertilizer

I have several that have.
Thats why I have so many LOL!!

Here in the south, at the beginning of the year it was hot and dry for the longest period of time, then we had a spell of hot and wet and we are back to hot and dry although the humidity is styfling. They say that we are 20 inches behind this year in our rainfall and when you fall behind it is hard to make up the stress.

I do not think the problem is solely with Plumerias. People I have talked to have said that other plants they have are not blooming normally. I know that my hibiscus are not blooming nearly as much as they have in previous years.

I have a Sally Moragne that is now puting out about five inflorences on branches. My King Kalakaua, Plastic Pink and two other plumerias that I am not sure what they are are also starting to put out inflorences. The only other bloom I got, until now, was a pink one that I believe is Loretta and a unigue yellow rainbow I have that never fails me.

One thing, I might mention is that the pink plumeria that I believe is Loretta, or a close look alike, has a seed pod. It is the biggest I ever had. Each half is about a foot long.
