Hot, hot, hot....and watering...

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

VERY cool...thanks to you both for explaining that to me...something else for me to get to add to the mix!!! :) I swear I need more room!!

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Chantell, this thread was a good idea ! I never knew that I shouldn't water the plants in the evening ! and the plumerias in wool ! Thanks, Lopaka ! Great idea!

lopaka-

On your mix, are you using equal parts? And I don't understand the soy question that followed. Looking that the photos, I saw bat ****, coir, and another coir photo, plus a mention of perlite in the text. Am I missing something?

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

In lopaka's 4th picture there was a bottle of something that said "Supernatural"
and "Soy" and I was just being nosy. You never know what special ingredients some successful growers are using.

Well hello Adina!!! Good to see you over "here!!"

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Thanks, is it still hot the subject for you, cause for me is history ! I haven't watered the garden since Wednesday !

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

No it's still been hot...not as bad as a few days ago...but hot just the same.

Thanks Lopaka, I will definitely try to find a pet store with coir; I know where I can get the rockwool.

Now, what was that black spray bottle of __?__ Soy for?

The black bottle is Bio Soy pesticide..
I am beta testing it for the hydro guys..
My target is my Thai basils plants..
It suppose to kill all kinds of insects plus you can eat the plant right after you spray it :)

Ardesia,
I'm late in seeing this post, but I got my coir at Petsmart in the lizard section. Looks like a small brick. I think it is used for iguana bedding material. I remember it had a pic of a lizard or iguana on the package.

I love reading your posts.......especially when you talk about the live oaks and loblolly. I sure miss all that from the Lowcountry. Lived on Hilton Head for 15 years along time ago......back in the early days. I still miss the smell of the marsh.

*big grin here*, You and I are probably the only ones who like that smell. Funny, I can't stand the fishy smell of a lake but give me a Lowcountry marsh and I can breathe easier.

You would not recognise the HHI area any more; the inevitable happened and everything is so built up now. Tiny Bluffton now looks like south FL. Traffic everywhere...............

You might enjoy this view from the edge of our yard.

Nice yard, Ardesia !
Bless you,Michael!
Chantell, I'm over my head here, but have to make a tour of the DG before I leave ! Moreover,I have to water the plants because it's hot again! I hope the neighbors will water the garden while I'm gone!

Have a safe trip.

That is an awesome photo, Ardesia. A beautiful backdrop is right!

Feel better quickly, Michael.

Wishing you safe traveling, Adina.

Thanks, Clare !

Can the coir be bought for less anywhere other than the pet store. I found it here at a pet store and it was $7 for that tiny brick. That seems expensive unless you only use a small amount of it. any suggestions anyone? things here usually dry out quickly also and I have a tendency to over water if I am not careful.

Adina,
Have a wonderful time!!! I'll be thinking about you...could DS water your plants while your gone since he's watching boss anyway?

Davie, FL(Zone 10b)

Perfect place for a airboat Ardesia...
:)
Very Nice pic indeed...
Looks like the florida everglades...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

It does look like the glades in that photo; however, it is tidal and we have 9' tides here. That airboat would only be good for an hour or two during high tide.
