Here's a list I found of the species of stick insects that live in Texas.

Anisomorpha buprestoides
Anisomorpha ferruginea
Diapheromera arizonensis
Diapheromera covillea
Diapheromera femorata
Diapheromera persimilis
Diapheromera tamaulipensis
Diapheromera torquata
Diapheromera velii
Megaphasma denticrus
Parabacillus coloradus
Parabacillus hesperus
Pseudosermyle straminea
Pseudosermyle strigata
Sermyle mexicana

Yours looks like Diapheromera femorata to me, but I could be wrong.

Thanks
I had no idea there were so many in Texas.
I'll try and narrow it down

Here's another to throw into the mix Megaphasma dentricus (Gaint walkingstick). The description in The Audubon Society field guide of insects sound alot like you pic and there is a picutre of it also that looks very much like it.

Oops I see it was listed. Here's a pic of a female. They are the largest of the walking sticks.

Thanks for your input..
Both these seem fatter and greener in the pictures I've seen of them..
Mine is very beige and very thin..
Or maybe femorata and dentricus are fatter and greener for another reason?
