Music, that's gorgeous! Any chance you could post a bigger pic?

Dale, I love all of yours, but especially the first one. It's so colorful and beautifully arranged.

There are 4 pots in this shot - enhancing a small corner garden that is quite flat. The pots give it height, mass and color enough that the taller flowers growing in the garden soil don't look spindly.

"Ombre de Bronze"

groveland, FL(Zone 9b)

no excuses...however the next one was dropped and fell twice and we lost the center and one entire side....which of couse i was down balance big time...and i got marked off for it.

also my hanging basket...it was dropped 3...THREE times because of it's 50 pound weight and i was going to pull these both because of the damage....well they still took 2nd place so i'm not complaining,

poor poor hanging basket.....the sweet potato's completely smashed and we lost at least 4 major plants!...i can't believe really that we still even placed.

Outstanding tobee!!!

Grand Blanc, MI(Zone 5b)

Tobee, I am in love with the "Ombre de Bronze" combination. Just gorgeous! Here are a couple of my containers this year. I love the Dragon Wings..tough as nails and always looks good!

Here's my front porch (I have two identical - one on each side of the entry).

This located in the bed in front of the house. Not thrilled with it. The "Perfect Pink" coleus in nice, but the plectranthus "Silver Shield" just looks plain weird. Its my first time with it and I thought it would be more tightly mounded. "Ombre de Bronze" would be stunning there!:)

This is an old Ladderback chair that I made into a planter. I have 2 of them & they hold Sedum very nicely.

Tobee, beautiful arrangements, you deserve "Best of Show." I love the "Ombre de Bronze" too. Such a distinctive looking plant.

Serenity, maybe I'll try the Dragon Wings next year. They always look so overgrown at the garden center, but I have the perfect conditions for them. I used the plectranthus Silver Shield last year, and it outgrow everything else. I loved it when it was small, but it's a huge, coarse plant, and it doesn't mound like a coleus. Great color though.

Grand Blanc, MI(Zone 5b)

Revclaus, I could not be happier with the Dragon Wings! They do look leggy and overgrown at the garden center but they just take off once planted and given some room. I had 5 plants in my 1/2 barrels and the center ones got crowded out by the surrounding 4 so I removed them and replaced with 1/2 priced cannas in July for some height. I planted the removed center ones each (alone) in 10" pots and they are full and overflowing. Wonderful for our short growing season. I also have some peppered throughout my border - some in sun and some in shade - some in moister soil and some very dry. The ones in the shadier, moister soil are a bit bigger and the foliage is a bit deeper green but all have branched and bloomed not stop! I returned from a long weekend up north recently and some of my smaller pots (of course) were bone dry. While my verbena, petunias and sweet potato vines looked half dead. The Dragon Wings looked like they could have cared less. No signs of stress at all. I know I am rambling on and on but I am just thrilled to have found something that fills in quickly, blooms non-stop, growns in sun and shade (in my Z5 anyway) and needs next to no care! Just wish they were a little less expensive so I could use them (instead of impatiens) in mass in my front border... the impatients never really fill in and look good until now.... You must give them a try!:)

(Judith) Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Serenity, I will! You've convinced me. I need something like that.

I discovered something about impatiens I didn't know before, they need twice as much water as I'd been giving them. Now they look gorgeous, but they would have looked that good a lot earlier if I'd been watering them earlier.

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Rev, I will see if I can get a pic to you this evening. My bro has my pics...but he only lives next door!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I've been converted to dragon wing begonias, they are so gorgeous in your pics, serenity, thanks!

I like that one irmaly. Is that a musa, or what...

boone, NC(Zone 5b)

Thanks, revclaus! Yes, it's a banana althugh I have no idea which one. I'm in the NC mountains, and love tropicals but can only use them in the summer in pots. I have some other nice pots this year and will try to get pics later.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Hello All!

TOBEE: Thanks, girlfriend, for the compliment. I remain humble in your shadow. Folks come into my yard with compliments, and I point 'em right back to the DG garden gurus who taught me everything I know!

JEANNINE: I love your 5-planter pic with the Hostas. Really very, very nice!

DALE: What're those lovely yellow flowers in your post? the Sarasota one...

IRMALY: I have a banana tree like that but mine isn't as gorgeous or healthy as yours. Please tell me your growning conditions. Mine is in a small flowerbed that gets FULL sun ALL DAY LONG, and very little watering. Is your's in a container? What else is in the container? I see the SPV Marguerite...

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Oh, everyone's pot's are wonderful! Tobee - Congrats! That is quite and undertaking! I'm always happy when I find the perfect spot and leave it there! (my son is, too!)

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Serenity,
Are those pink blooms from the Dragon Wings? I have Angel Wings. should I expect blooms too, someday?

auntb...you got that right...just wonderful pots on this thread! we got some creative persons around us.

dale....right....higher paying clients??? actually...i'm selective with my customer base and don't want everyone looking like.."me"..LOL! i already have too many jobs for next season and i'm NOT cheap!....want to come and help me???....also...before the end of the season ....you had asked for a few cuttings which if you still want i will send. end of my season is late sept...early oct.

it was nice to have some time to take a few pics this morning of some of my gardens and containers. of course MINE are always the last to be tended!

here's a couple hanging basket containers..next time i have to make sure their weight is even!

Gorgeous, tobee. You should be on the coleus forum, if you're not already.

groveland, FL(Zone 9b)

rev...thank you..and of course i am usually only on the coleus forum...i'm trying to diversify ;) i also, once in a while go to canna...since most of my gardens and containers are designed with one or the other or both. i see you like canna as well. i got some beauties this year. some great pure whites!

Pearl River, LA

Tobee please post pic of white canna....I have never seen one..shirley

Grand Blanc, MI(Zone 5b)

Andycnd, Thank you!

Gymgirl, Yes those are the pink Dragon Wing (they also come in red). I wish I new more about Begonias to answer your question on your Angel Wing blooming. I think they do bloom but are mostly grown for the foliage. Not sure though!
