Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Oooohhhh....spooky....that sounds like fun. they have one in Houston too...let me see if I can find the link. Be right back. Here it is...

I haven't done it but I'm sure tempted.

We're planning another visit to New Orleans in September or October and this time I'm doing the spooky tour. I love to get a little scared.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I did one of the ghost tours in New Orleans at Halloween. This girl was really good. But she has moved on to Salem Mass and is doing Witch tours. If you happen to go to Salem sometime check out Absolutely Faboulous Tours, at least that's what it was in New Orleans.

Boerne new zone 30, TX(Zone 8b)

I had never seen that before. Sounds like it might be fun

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Dont they sound like fun? We used to go to graveyards to look and see back in our courting days..

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

"Who you gonna call, Ghost Busters!, I'm afraid of no ghosts" (sung to movie theme song) la la la la la la

PS: type singing much better than vocal singing, TRUST ME!

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

These tours sound like so much fun! I just can't get anybody crazy enough to go with me.

We are tru blue spooks! Halloween is our favorite time of the year. We've thrown a costume party every year for the last 10 and turn our yard into a graveyard. My DH made awesome tombstones out of plywood and I painted them to look really creepy. Why, just last week I bought a 7' air blown gargoyle for the "entrance" to the grave yard!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Pic Knolan pics!!

If you are ever interested we have an album full of pics from graveyards.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I love creepy pics! Please share!

Unfortunately I didn't own a digital last year so I have nothing to post yet. But you can be sure I'll have lot's of pics for you on or around October 1!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I will scan them all in... they are the old type of camera - give me a few and I will post some on here.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Alright these are mostly in Ellis Co... not the best but we love them...

What beautiful old tombstones! I love visiting old cemetaries and taking pictures! that's a neat collection, Mitch!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

We have 100s of pics... never caught a ghost but boy we tried...really tried. I will tell you that there are folks in them at night - several times. More then once we thought we saw things but never on film.. so sad.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, I have a real ghost story. I'll dmail you so others' don't think I'm nuts!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

They know I am nuts! I am very interested in ghosts... really think I have seen some but nothing to prove it...

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Have you guys checked out the cemetaries in New Orleans. I did that tour also. Now those are some cool places. One had the Voodoo Queens grave. You should have seen all the offerings and candles that people had left for her. I love Halloween too. I put up my little Halloween Village and I have a mummy and skeleton I got from Martha that I use. I tell ya the mummy has scared me a few times when I forget that it's in the room and turn the corner.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Scoolie, High Five!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Any pics of the NO tour? I would love to go on that one... we wanted to go to NO but my wife gets goosebumps just getting close to it.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll see if I can find them and scan them into the comptuer.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Is N.O. even up to having tourists again?

Martha Stewart (back when her show was good...not this talk show thing) she said her favorite holiday was Halloween! Just not something I pictured from her.

I've always loved cemetaries but have never met someone else in person who really shares my love of them! I could walk around one and look at each tombstone before leaving. I like to figure out how old the people were and wonder at what caused their death. I love the newer tombstones where you can have a real photograph of the person on it. That says a lot. Or the spouses who share a headstone thats a stone bench, that's sweet.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Not sure about the tourists yet.

When I was in high school. I used to go out to the cemetary at the end of the road and sit down and do my homework. I needed the peace and quiet.

Have you seen some of the new tombstones where they use the laser to cut pictures into them. Back home, one of the high school students was killed his senior year. His tombstone is black granite. There are pictures all over it of all the things he liked to do. Fishing, (lake with a fish jumping out of the water ) hunting, ( white tail deer standing in the woods ) 4-wheelin, ( him on a 4-wheeler making a jump ). It is so neat.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

You need to head to hill country - several of the older German graveyards there all have old black and white photos behind glass.... talk about getting a mental view...

I love to go read what people have written... my fav is at Waxahachie... "Never again this foot shall trod, thorns not roses cover the sod."

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Wow...and I thought that I was alone in going to old cemetarys and taking lots of photos!

I've been on that Ghost Tour in Salem, Ma....since I lived near Boston for 6 years..and yeah...it was creepy... The cemetarys in the Boston area are fantastic...mostly colonial and so beautiful....Lots of skulls and weeping willows...

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, I'm planing a trip to NO either in Sept. or Oct. so I'll keep ya'll posted if the tour still exists.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

I also lived outside Boston and did the Salem witch tour- very cool.
Went to NO a few years ago for the 1st time and did go to the cemetaries. It was wonderful. I had an old friend that I hadn't seen in like 30 years meet me there. Thought it would be such great fun. Unfortunately she'd married and converted to catholicism- not that I have any thing against any one religion or other- but you know what they say about folks who convert, they are always holier than thou- I attended services w/ her at the oldest catholic church, yada yada even though I am not a fan, and she found gambling and going into the voodoo shops offensive. She said it was because of her religous views- I don't believe in voodoo but clearly it's interesting and fun, as is putting a few quarters in slot machines!
Next time I will go alone or take my kids.

Kristi lets arrange for a bunch of us who are close by to do a local ghost tour if there is one!

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

April, that sounds like fun. There is one....see my link towards the top of this thread.

Well, I for one plan to gamble, go to voodoo shops and hit as many blues bars that are around while I'm there. Buy some funky art, eat some funky food and just have plain old fun. Last time we were there hubby got a tattoo. One is all that he is allowed so we will not be visiting another tattoo shop.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, that link doesn't give info about the tour. I'll find it.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah I checked out your link. What's the tattoo of or is that private?

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Here's the right link. We can do Houston or Galveston.

It's the ying and yang symbol on his ankle. I have a celtic triangle on my hip.
