There was some discussion over in the Georgia Gardening forum about this. It's my new house. I use 'new' lightly as it's actually a 1956 brick ranch that I bought from a foreclosure. Got a good deal and should be able to turn it over for at least 20% more in 5 years, but for now it's home! It's got 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, living dining kitchen open area, a laundry and office in one, a back deck that looks out to most of my .4 acres filled with old oaks and fenced in, and there's a shed back there at the back of the lot that's really big and has running water, electricity and gas!!! :) :) :) So anyways, enough babbling, here's some pics.
My new house!
kitchen
done a LOT of work in here already. I posted in the decorating forum if you want to see...

laundry/office
The washer and dryer go on the left wall (I will drywall them in to their own 'closet') and my desk is on the right wall. There's a door that goes out to the deck and back yard. I'm half done painting the panelling. It's so dark in there right now. I'm calling it the 'wood room'. lol It's like living in a humidor.
basicallly the back yard is a big square surrounded by chain link fence. It ends about 4 feet past the back end of the shed and, although it is southern exposure, is shady because of all the huge old oak trees.
here's the deck, I'd like to knock off the railing, add steps along the front and put up a pergola
okie dokie guys and gals, that's it for now!
Angie you have yourself a great home there. I know you have alot of work to do but I can see from the other thread of your kitchen that its all going to look great.
The hardwood floors look like they are in good condition from what I can see(are they?)
CONGRATS!!!!!!!
Angie, I'm so envious of you! I'd like to do just what you're doing. But I'm not a do-it-yourselfer. I'm more the 'supervisor' kind of person, and I don't have anyone to supervise! I know I can do some things, and when I find my 'dream home' I might be doing just that.
Congratulations. I think you've got a jewel in the rough!
Hey Drave, the floors are not in good condition, lots of dark scrapes and gouges and one big oil looking spot in the laundry/office, but one day when I have $ to get it refinished it could look great. They are oak and have a nice patina for now. Plus with big dogs running around, it's an 'ok!' on the scratchy look. lol
FlowrLady, I've bought killed myself to get it to this point. lol I had 8 days between closing and furniture moving in to get all this done. My mom helped a LOT and my boyfriend came by one day and helped me lay the kitchen floor tile. i could have done it all alone, but things go faster and more run with someone else there to laugh and the obstacles! Like finding out that wall by the stove was wet and had holes the size of watermelons in it that they had covered over with packing tape and wallpaper!!! lol We just started busting it up and went to home depot and bought drywall cut into 2 foot pieces so we could handle it and got er dun! lol If you don't think and just keep moving, it starts to happen. The best thing I did so far was to repaint the entire inside of the house the same pale butter yellow, ceilings included. So much warmer and feels clean again.
I have to say that if I had bought a house in better shape or for more $ I wouldn't have had the guts to do all this demolition and reno that I've never done before. But not much to lose here! You should have seen me out on the carport with my new circular saw cutting backerboard for the floor, wearing a willie coyote tshirt, boxers and my mom's bifocals because I forgot to buy goggles! Gotta do what it takes!!! :)

Yeah, I noticed the tile in the floor changed... I really like what you did. Good job! I guess when it comes my turn, I'll get in here and let everyone know, like you have, so I can get some encouragement as well as suggestions from folks who have 'been there, done that'.
You go girl, I don't know you, but I'm proud of ya!!
lol Thanks! :)
You go gal! Wish I had your energy, lol.
That shed is an easy greenhouse, sure you'll want to leave it behind? I envy all your shady oaks, I'm thinking you could host your own N.Atlanta ru's there!
Are you living there yet? Is BF the same guy we met? Do you still have 'pegleg' lol??
Congratulations! That's wonderful. I envy you your hardwood floors.
I bought my first house three months ago, and it also needs a lot of work. I'm not even unpacked yet.
I just moved too, I hope I never have to do it again!
I love that they left all the wood work in it's original state, there's nothing worse than sanding/stripping trim.
I love the idea of a greenhouse..I'm *green* with envy. ;-)
Congrats girlie!! I just stumbled on to this. I guess I know now where you have been hiding. LOL
Go Angie! Go Angie!
That yard looks very promising for planting. Are you done with the inside yet? hehehehehe
vi ... not sure what you mean by 'leave it behind'? I am living there full time for a couple weeks now. It's going to be like living in a construction zone for a while. My brother (plumber) came over last night and informed me I need all new plumbing because it is 50 year old steel and almost certainly pouring rust into the water. Nice! lol Just gotta not drink it.
White ... I didn't say ANYTHING about being unpacked!!! LOL
luna_baby ... (like your name by the way) the trim is nice with the warm light yellow walls I have, but the idiots that did the hack paint job before me painted the edges and parts of the rest of it white. That's on the list of 'to do's. As for the greenhouse, I'm 'green' with envy too! Big possibilities, no moolah, has to wait. :(
'chele ... I'm doing the cabbage patch as I type.. (go angie, go angie, go angie) lol Um...not ready for plants yet!!! lol How's the business going by the way?
vi, I forgot to add.. new bf ('bout a month or 6 weeks now) and no pegleg, he passed in feb. I have a new doggy now though, and I know YOU'll approve! :)

angie, you might try "Oops" to remove the paint spatters from the trim. If the wall paint was latex, it should remove it without harming the trim's finish.
(I've never understood why people let smears and spatters dry on adjacent trim. If you're working with latex paint, a damp rag takes them right off, and you stay neat and tidy as you go....sigh. Even if you come back a few hours or a day later, a little elbow grease and damp cloth will still remove them.)
Thanks Terry, I have all kinds of Goof Off stuff for trying to remove the adhesive the linoleum left on the hardwood dining room floor. Yes, they put 2 layers of lino over hardwoods. *sigh* Anyways, i'll give it a go!
Oh, and the people that painted this place white weren't exactly paid well I don't think. In some places they had taped trim off and then painted over the top of it and onto the woodwork, and you could see where the paint roller had smacked into the ceiling every time they painted up a wall. LOL
Oooh ooh! I can share a painting tip! Keep a box of baby wipes near by when you paint. They work great for removing ill placed paint! LOL
ROTF @ roller smacks on the ceiling. hahahaha
Your new puppy is so pretty. Doesn't she hamper dating though? ;)
All is good here! Thank you for asking!
The 'puppy' is supposedly 2 years old and it's a boy. lol And no, he doesn't hamper dating since he is in looooooove with my boyfriend's girl rottweiler! :)
