Just one more.

When this hot weather slacks off a bit, I have another project to work on. I have a small falls filter. I plan to set it about 30' from the upper pond, put a stream bed in with a couple little pools in it, a lot of rocks and and a couple more places to put some filter material to clean up the water a little more as it is always too late by the time the lilies and hyacinth can shade the pond. I will have to take some pics of that as I go. Just have to be patient though, I'm not doing anything in this heat.

Lookie Lookie what we got today for the new pond. Putting them in the old one right now.

I am so excited. Cant wait to get started again and get the new pond done.

Pretty nice fish! I really like the white one with the yellow and black markings. Very pretty! Angel is a nice name for the last one, or even Angelica.

Virginia Beach, VA

Nice looking nd good size kois. Are those all new? I kind of favor Angelica as pixydish had suggested. Happy ponding!! Bellie

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

I agree Pixydish, Angelica is nice. OK that is her name.

The big beautiful orange one and the white one the the tiny orange spot ( the two big ones in the yellow tub... My husband was so sad. This pond is his Baby and He purchased these fish with money his mother gave him for his B-Day.

OK Beck- I got all my ducks in a row for mailing out your bananas in the morning! I will water them extra good tonite then wash the roots clean first thing in the morning. The PO is a 30 mile drive so I will go early as I don't have ac in my van and the doggies can go for a ride!!

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

Doggies......... I love doggies I have 4 and they love to ride in the car too. Hats off to the doggies. Have fun doggies.

LOL

Oh, that's so sad about the two fish! How disappointing.

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

yes it was disappointing but It was our fault. Will never make that mistake again. This is who we lost so pretty. the twp big ones. My husband was devistated. He was kinda partial to the orange one.

Someplace in Heaven are two pretty fish! So sorry for your DH. Yesterday I was out working in the pond and my pump suddenly bit the dust. It had been making some noise, so it wasn't totally unexpected, but I was in a hopeful denial of having to do anything quickly about it. I ordered a new pump, but I didn't want to leave the pond without a pump until it comes, so I had to go and buy a smaller one just to keep the water moving until the good one gets here. I was worried the water would get fouled and my fish would suffer.

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

Great job because in this heat they would have suffered horribly. The heat is starting to break here. Hoping to get started back on the new pond, BUT oh no its gotta rain now. Cant win for losing. I wonder if we will ever get to it. OK Beck chin up no depression just get and do something else.

East Brunswick, NJ(Zone 7a)

WOW...what pretty Koi you're getting!...good luck with all of them!...:)...I can't wait to but my first little one or two again...it's going to be quite a while for me though...

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

I get anxiety problems waiiiiiiiiting. LOL

Well, truth be known, I don't have the heat that you do. I don't get rain, either. It's in the 70's right now. But I didn't want there to be no filtration of any kind going on. Too many fish in there for that!

I know cant lose the babies. We get so attatched it aint funny. Like they are our children.

We had been ponding for 3 years now and if the pump dies it is a disaster!! Now I have 2 medium pumps to use before a replacemant arrives. Kois grows fast , I know it is heartbreaking to lose kois but a 2 inch kois will get to be 6-8 inches in 3 months. Happy ponding!! Bellie

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

Yes the do grow fast. This beauty was just a baby and she grew wonderfully in our pond.
We put some 4'" Koi in are pond 4 weeks ago on my hubby birthday and they are alread 10" - 12" long.

Wow!! what do you feed them?? Bellie

Decatur, IL(Zone 5b)

LOL... Koi food.....LOL OOOOOPS that is not a picture of one of the babies she has been in the pond for a few years.

There these were the babies. All thoses clumped in the middle by the window reflex and the little white one bottom right. Most of them were born in the pond.
We have only bought 4 babies this year, and the 8 above.
