Recently moved and left behind a beloved and beautiful fig tree. Took multiple cuttings at the time (April), both hard and soft wood, and have only two left that have not rotted. Tried rooting in both soil and water, the two left are hardwood cuttings in water. One of them finally is showing roots and has a leaf bud--the other one looks dead, but has not rotted so I have left it in the water. My question--what to do now? I only have ONE of what is (to me) a valuable cutting (call me sentimental... I know fig trees are a dime a dozen..). Don't want to goof this up. Anyone else out there rooted a fig in water? How long did you wait to pot it? Worried, since all the cuttings in soil rotted. Thanks for any and all advice!
