This tree is on the corner of our house here in Florida. I do not know what kind of evergreen it is (so would love some info on that) and need to know how to prune it so that it does not go above the roof over the porch.
Can anyone educate me or send me to a site that could do so??

Here is the close-up of the leaf structure. It is very flat!
Platycladus orientalis (Chinese Arborvitae).
Best not pruned; if you must, don't cut back inside the green foliage - it won't re-grow from brown stems.
