I love big flowers too Tony!! All colors! LOL. Are you getting into tropical Hibiscus? I am in love with them.
Oh Barbara....too bad about the storm. I bet you can send them off rooted or unrooted. The hard wood pieces do better in the mail but if you send the greener ones right after being cut with the cut end in moist paper towel they should do OK too. I have sent them both ways.
I see now where I said that about pruning. I find if I prune frequently all growing season and even in the beginning of spring to get it going the right way, you get a great canopy which in turn gives more flowers. It is a little bit of pruning done frequently to shape your tree. I will admit that this year, I haven't done what I preach. I have too many other things going on. And the weather sure hasn't given me a hand this year.
LOL Barbara!! Vireya!!! I can finally pronouce that word. I am so proud. Took me forever, it was like I had a mental block. My friend Lali (Begoniacrazii) was thinking I was mentally slow for it took me so long. To tell you the truth, I have no clue which one is the one I got from your guy. I started going to the San Francisco Arboretum sales and buying them. So I have quite a few now though I have no clue even which colors they are. I have had one flower for me that Lali gave me, it is a small white one. The trick will be how they do over winter here. I pray for a mild one but the weather has been so bizarre, I bet we get snow.
So you must be doing something so right! What are your fertilizing with? None of mine have grown so much. I am jealous.
I think she has a few pheromones.
It is supposed to be a long fall , short cold winter and another early wet spring .
Tony, what is wet? It has been over a 100 for so long I am not sure I would know what rain was when I saw it.
