Is anyone going to the WildOnes Conference this weekend?

I know a few of us are going, me and Guy for sure but others had mentioned they might go.

I just ran into a conflict. Evidently my husband has a corporate coctail party and cruise on Lake Michigan this Saturday and oh horrors... he wants me to go with him. That cruise deal is Saturday at 5 pm.

I was sort of hoping others were attending and that maybe somebody going has a hotel room that I could borrow for about 15 minutes to change into something more appropriate for the evening so I could leave straight from the conference to meet up with my husband. I don't particularly relish the thought of changing in my car in the parking lot yet on the other hand I don't particularly like the idea of driving all the way home to change to drive all the way to Chicago for this party. The other option is to come over dressed for the conference but underdressed for the cocktail/cruise deal.

I hate this when these things happen.

I'll look forward to seeing you in whatever stage of dress or undress you present yourself! I have one foot out the door now on my way north, and plan to stop in and see Kevin on the way. (I plan to bring a shovel, but don't tell him that!)

Does this mean you have a hotel room I can borrow to change out of my jeans and t-shirt? I really don't want to end up there in heels and hose. Call me on the home phone or my cell phone. I need to know if you'll have a hotel room tomorrow night too or if you are going home and passing on the activities on Sunday.

OK, the other post sounded cheap. This one is downright fire-sale, give-away-the-farm-who-needs-to-buy-the-cow-the-milk-is-free.

Ya, that does sound kinda bad. What I meant was that people dress casually at these conferences for the most part. Most will be in shorts or jeans. My darling husband forgot to tell me until a few days ago that we have this coctail party followed up by a formal cruise on Saturday night so right about now I'm screwed because of timing. I would feel really awkward showing up at the conference in formal wear. This gives me a few choices. I can change in the trunk of my car and meet loverboy downtown and not miss the last two modules on Saturday OR I can wear something sort of in between jeans and a formal dress and look like a goofball who doesn't know how to dress at both events, OR I can wear what I want to wear to the conference then ditch out of the last two sessions and go home and change into appropriate evening wear OR... I can get somebody to let me change in their hotel room so I don't have to miss the last two modules and then I won't have to look over dressed for the conference and under dressed for my husband's party that he should have told me about a lot sooner than just a few days ago.

Looks as if I'm going the in between route for Saturday.

Equil, I would say you could change at my place in Lombard, but I will not be around. Does Naperville have motels that charge by the hour?

Thanks willis, I appreciate it. I have a cousin who lives right in Naperville and he and his wife left for vacation or I could have popped in there to change too. I didn't know there was such a thing as hotels that charged by the hour. I did check the rate for the Holiday Inn Select where the conference is being held and I'm way too cheap to pay that price to change clothes without getting the benefit of at least a nap.

I hate to admit this but I am one of those people who if I have to use a public rest room (gasp); washes my hands, then dries my hands, then uses the paper towel to touch the handle to open the door to get out and I just drop the towel on the floor as I exit. I know that sounds horrible but I can't believe how many women use the restroom and don't wash their hands before leaving. It's disgusting to me.

And yes, I spread out toilet paper on the toilet seat too. And, if I can flush the toilet by pushing down the handle with my foot so I don't have to touch it with my hand I do. I'm a stickler for clean bathrooms. I'd rather let pee run down my leg than use some restrooms I've seen.

I'm going for basic black tomorrow. If anyone asks... I'll just tell em I have to run to a funeral or something. Just kidding. I'm sure some of the speakers will be dressed up a tad bit more than jeans, a t-shirt, and flip flops which is what I had planned on wearing.

I'm back home tonight, recovering from the heart attack I had when she walked into the room stark naked!!! Or was that just a mirage in the heat?

You missed all the fun everyone had at the Invasives Panel. You shouldn't have gone home so early.

I think I picked up a few new members for Dave's Garden. One from Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin, and two from Illinois. We'll see in the next few weeks.

Yup, they're down there everywhere.

It was a rather boring/ho hum little dinner cruise. I think I yawned at least a hundred times and was wishing the boat would dock sooner than the two hours so I could get off and go home. The conversation wasn't exactly stimulating and I was reduced to nodding and smiling a lot. My husband saw me go and sit down and he walked over and said, "Don't you dare nodd of and fall asleep on me". I got up and socialized with all the penguins and their wives but would have truly preferred to fall asleep sitting upright. It had been a long day.

LOL I finally know someone who hates small talk as much as I do! But at least you make an effort, that's very commendable.
