My first Glads

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

You can plant Gladiolus 6-8 inches deep and that should help. If you plant large bulbs, then i Plant them in a circle about 1 foot in diameter and put a 6 foot rebar about 1 - 1 1/2 foot in the ground after they are up about 2 feet. Then I put a piece of green florist wire around them tied to the rebar and 2 or 3 times a week I just raise it a little. After a few weeks you do not see the rebar anymore and you have a perfect planting.

thank you very much bleek... that sounds great... how many do you pack in the foot circle?

10 bulbs in the size 14-16cm. Anything smaller in size when planted deep enough does not need staking. Make sure they get plenty of sun as in the shade they will not flower. Also ever started planting them let us say in March and then plant some evry 3 weeks for 3 or 4 times and you have flowers all Summer and fall.
