Crinums about to bloom

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

Wasn't sure whether to post this under lilies or bulbs since it is both. Anyway, my sis brought me three buckets of crinums that she got from the master Gardener's sale down her way. They ahve really been multiplying in the buckets and since Crinums do not like to be disturbed...and we have ahd this sever droght going, I have put them in the lily garden where they will 'live', but have not taken them out of the buckets. Now I'll have to wait till they get through blooming! The same thing happened with the Peruvian Daffodils she brought me. Oh well, I'll wait till September then I'll plant them all....

Will do! I just discovered the buds today. They just seemed to show up over night. Freaked me out.

It's true! I swear they do pop up overnight. My Crinum scabrums do that and it always freaks me out. One day there's no scape and the next day, there's a two-inch one showing!

BTW: Did you take any pictures of this one further along?

Crinum toxicity seems to make them impervious to deer munches and even gophers leave them alone. A good thing for gardeners in country prone to both.
