I have several bright yellow and orange lillies that are blooming at the same time as a very pink huge rambling rose and clashing terribly ... can lillies be pinched back early on to delay blooming or should I just move them? You can't see the rose bush in this direction but behind the camera it's a real mish-mosh ...
Can you pinch back lillies?
Why not wait till the lilies have finished blooming and then dig them with as much soil as possible. You can certainly cut off the blooms now if you want. Do not cut the stems more than one third. The lily bulb needs the leaves for photosythesis, to gather starch etc. for the winter and to bloom next year.
If you cut the blooms now, I would leave the bulbs where they are and move them in the fall.

No, you can't pinch lilies to delay bloom. Any buds you see are the only ones you will get for the current season.
Duh. Thanks Moby. Maybe one day I'll read and answer the question asked!!!
