LOLOL ok well I bring my planter of vines in for the winter, last winter it was in the kitchen by the southern facing window, I was waiting for the seedpods to ripen, the kids were sitting at the kitchen table one evening, next thing I hear is something getting flung, pieces flying around, I get up to ask them what they are doing!! the same time I step into the kitchen, they ask me "Mom why are you throwing stuff at us?" LOLOL well needless to say, they thought I was throwing things at them (not that I would har har, ok well yes I would!!!) but I just thought they dropped or spilled something and it was clanking around the kitchen. Turns out the pods had exploded and were shooting little corkie beans all over the kitchen, it was like divebombing beans!! too funny, now Donna, you KNOW I wouldn't be throwing things at the kids right? har har har
so just be forewarned, here when they ripen they really ripen and let you know, so what I did after that was stuck some panty hose over the pods, then I didn't have them shooting around the kitchen or have to pick them up!!!!
Corkscrew vine first blooms this year
Thanks for the laugh.I only have one pod,so I'll be really careful with it.
Yes place it in protective custody lol
Donna's seeds had to be pried open, we have been talking about this, how mine just popped open and her's stayed hard and had to be opened, both our seeds vere very viable, so no clue, but we use a woodburner over winter and wondered if the heat had some issues with the seeds exploding???
Thanks to everyone for this thread and the one from last year.
My vine didn't do terribly well this year, but with what I've learned on the 2 threads, maybe next year........
Love that story, Ohiobreezy, made me laugh! I've had experience with mysterious sharp cracking sounds and seeds strewn over the room before too!
Robert.
LOL Robert, glad to know I am NOT the only one!!!
I hope yours does much better for you next year, we are all learning more each and every day on all these vines as well as other plants, I love this place, packed with so much info!!!
