IRIS wanted - in Memory of someone I NEVER MET

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Gail,
I am in the same boat .Why don't we wait until next week ? we should be back on Mon.maybeTues. ?

I agree the heat is definately not good for any plants to be shipped and I will wait also.
So if anybody else is trading with me and has not sent yet...let's wait...a few days don't matter to me .

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

I just noticed a booboo ...I messed up on the mountain ash trees.Janiejoy was first ,but I sent LeBugs first.Janie yours is still coming but as I said above somewhere I'll wait until the heat lets up a little and we'll be back from Boston,

I am fine they got here and are doing fine - I will send yours out once it gets below 100 for a high here, they bake in that heat if that is ok? Should be a week or so.

Bay, AR(Zone 7a)

I almost forgot! : - O

I can send your box out tomorrow!
Gail
(p.s. YAY, Lily of the Valley! I can't believe I've been gardening 10 years and never had any!)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Hi,
I just wanted you to know that I looked up the info on the phlox and from what I understand it is best to plant them in the spring or the fall. So I would think sending them in the fall is the answer. I will get the iris out as soon as I can stand the heat to do some digging. I have several trades I need to get out but it has been too hot for me to get out there these past few weeks!
Janet

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Janet,
You got ahead of me in posting this info.about the phlox .I read the same .We'll have to postpone until then.

I definately have to start my trade organizer so I won't mess up more that I have already.
Whoever wanted the mountain ash ..it's still coming .Right now it is sooooooo hot and humid everywhere and seems like no letting up.

Bay, AR(Zone 7a)

I don't know what I was thinking! I couldn't get your box out yesterday because my daughter had some surgery and I've had my 4yr old granddaughter. My daughter is here at my house now recouperating for the weekend. We are getting some really good rain here and I will be able to get those iris out to you Monday for sure!
Gail

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Gail,
PLEASE PLEASE :-) don't worry.I know from myself that every day life has other plans for us at times.Take your time.

I also know how it is with watching grandkids,we have 8.Give your daughter my best ,wishing her a speedy recovery,
Brigitte

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I will try to send my part of the trade in the next week...I hope to get some help in digging this weekend. Is that okay with you? Then you can send the plox in the fall?

Bay, AR(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Brigitte, it's been SO hectic around here today! I'm hoping this weekend settles down some. The iris won't be hard to dig since we've had this rain. You'll love them, I do!
Gail

Bay, AR(Zone 7a)

Hi Janet,
thank you so very much for posting and sending.
I received the box in great shape.
Will send phlox in the beginning of Sept.,
Brigitte

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I have not forgot - it is still over 100 everyday... I will get them out next week no matter what.

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Janet,
are you ready for the phlox ? who wanted the mountain ash again ?
I am so sorry that I am a little more than tardy but have so much to deal with.

As life has surprises ,we were suddenly facing turns in our future plans to life here for the rest of our lifes.
We had the home/property for sale as I mentioned just recently in posts and private emails to some of you.
Well it SOLD right away to the first looker a few days ago.We are closing on Oct.3rd,then have 30 days to move.

Need to fill my promises in trades and just need to know if it is Ok now to ship withhin the next couple of weeks the promised phlox and tree's ?
I fullfilled all of my trades but for Janet where I promised to send in september.

***
NOW the BIGGEST trade problem which I need to know personally from ALL OF YOU who responded to this post is can I take some of the iris you traded WITH me ?

Alot of them are planted in pots because I was planning this iris garden for fall planting.
Please tell me your thoughts,
Brigitte

PS:No I am not shouting :-)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I say yes, take whatever you can that you want. Yes, I am ready for the phlox as well. I know what a RUSH move is too..we had our house sold the second week it was listed with no clue where we were going and the people needed to get into ours in three weeks time...so needless to say, I was out shopping 24/7 and in three weeks we moved into this home...it is such a huge job!
Good luck!

Bay, AR(Zone 7a)

You mean you are asking our permission to NOT leave them at this house where this man had this iris garden? GIRL! Of course you can take whatever you want! I didn't send them to you because they were going to re-establish his garden (even though it would be nice to leave 1:4 but these days you never know, the new owners might just dig them up and CHUNK them and I SURELY hate to see that! (I'm not shouting either, merely for emphasis...LOL) I sent them because you had the HEART to even try to re-establish it in the first place! (and to get your lily of the valley, teeheehee)
Good luck with your NEW life plans, whatever they may be.
Gail

As a former real estate agent, I would think you should have had an understanding with the buyer. However, since so many of them are in pots, it's a moot point. Only things that are planted are assumed to stay. If you want some of them, it's best to ask the buyer for permission.
Where will you be moving?
If you still want the iris I promised, I can send them or wait until you are moved. PLMK

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Pam,
thanks for the standing offer :-)

No I meant I wanted to ask everyone who contributed to the memory garden if now I could take some of these irises with me since I am not going to have time to plant the rest of them here ?

Yes I do have a understanding in writing that I will be able to take 12 large roses, daylilies etc.other perrennials

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Janet and Gail,
Gosh I have to apologixe to both of you :-( was interupted so many times and guess when I got back again I only answered Pam.HOW embarrassing is that !!

Janet as You been there before You really can relate !
I am definately on a Merry go around because we don't know yet WHERE we are going to end up.Where we are going to buy ? even in which State ?Our daughter would love to have us near her in Massachussetts, our sons here in Maine.
Has to be a old house, has to be in the right pricerange and of COURSE a piece of land where I can have a smaller garden !!! I have looked at Real estate sites,we have looked at a few houses already and have some showings this week.
**
Gail, yes that is it and yes I wanted kind of permission to do so since that wasn't a normal trade but for a special request .
YesI would like to have some of the plants from my gardenfriends which are special to me.You are all such very very nice people which I consider to be friends.I remember the look on my face when I opened up your box Gail .I am still in awe :-) about the size of your rhizomes.

Can't wait to see them all bloom.
Thank You,
Brigitte

PS:Have a few minutes to breathe,we picked up my MIL at the Portland airport 3 hours ago and my husband just took his mother to the Litchfield fair. One of the oldest fairs in the State of Maine.

Bay, AR(Zone 7a)

Well plant them at your new place and I hope they do as well for you as they have for me! I've been growing them for 7 or so years and I'm still amazed at just how huge those things are! And just wait until they bloom! Here's a reminder pic.....
