How to humiliate a tree.
How to humiliate a tree
Yeah, I agree. I hope this is just a fad with a short life.
The most beautiful Sugar Maple in my neighborhood recently was decorated with a simular face. What a sad way to enhance the beauty of a magnificant tree. Hopefully some kid will rip it off under the cloak of darkness...
Yeah, but I gotta admit that one's better done than most I've seen!

I wonder if he's friends with Treebeard?
Holy Moly! Did they have to drill to put the eyeballs in there and the other features?
Will
Where can I get one? Don't worry, it is a Mimosa. Seriously.
This was some sort of a kit that was given to my kids by one of my brothers and it was probably purchased at Pasquesi Garden Center in Lk Forest because that's where that brother goes shopping for garden products. The tree is a magnificent Pinus strobus. This particular kit came with some sort of adhesive backing. I suspect it will fall off as the years march on which is fine by me.
Now.... for a Mimosa or any Mimosa cultivar... you will want to drill holes. Same goes for Ailanthus and Ailanthus cultivars. Lots of holes is what you will want to be able to firmly secure your tree face to the tree. Drill so many holes that your arm gets tired and don't worry about excess holes. The holes don't need to be all that deep because just penetrating the cambium layer should be good enough if you do so enough times. Pre-fill those holes with Garlon 4 as you'll want your tree face to stand out in the years to come ;)

I've seen similar things online and I promised myself that not one of the dozen plus trees on my property would ever have to go through that. No wonder the Ents don't like us!
Equil I prefer to carve more creative designs in some trees in Illinois, with my Bowie knife. Yaaaa haaaa haaaa!
Ouch sofer! Mother Earth says ouch! What exactly did you carve in the trees?
You missed the joke. They were going to be Guys trees. I thought I could get a raise out of him. Sorry I would never touch a tree except to tap the sap.
Oops, another joke flew over the top of my head with wings.
My neighbor actually spray painted a face on their's at Halloween. *rolling eyes* Tamara
You missed the joke. They were going to be Guys trees.
I saw that joke, you scoundrel!
But too late to react in a timely manner . . .
